North Merida is considered the hottest area at the moment due to its recent real estate development, roads and highways that connect it to the old downtown, the airport, beaches and all other landmarks of Yucatan. Getting around We suggest getting a car to improve your experience visiting all the wonderful places close by such as: - Paseo Montejo (8 kms) - Mayan World Museum (8.5 kms) - Main Square/Plaza Grande Merida/Catedral San Idenfonso (10 kms) - Progreso Beach. Need to take highway (25 mins) - Cenotes. Need to take highway (50 min drive depending on cenote) - Archaeological sites: Uxmal, Mayapan, Chichen-Itza (45 mins to 1.5 hrs depending on site) Upscale restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shopping plazas all within 5-10 minutes depending on the plaza (Plaza Altabrisa, Uptown Center, The Harbor and La Isla). The Airport is a 25 min drive. Car Alta Loft is located in the northern part of the city, which makes it a perfect hub to explore Merida and Yucatan with its many archaeological sites, museums, cenotes, squares/plazas, haciendas, beaches, etc. We recommend renting a car to explore the area (2 parking spots are available). ** Your kids are welcome, however the house is NOT child-proof. The pool is not gated and there is a staircase with no gate. Furniture is not attached to the walls. Please supervise your kids at all times to keep them safe and also to avoid damaging the property. ** Ask about our onsite spa services.
