Other things to note Some words about our AC ☺️🙏🏼 BRAHMA is a rare gem, it was built over 20 years ago, and as most of the vintage Balinese homes, BRAHMA had no system to control humidity and ventilation. During the last renovation in 2020, there was a great effort to maintain the unique original structure that allows our guests to experience the typical Balinese outdoor lifestyle. In an effort to please our most demanding guests, we added the best AC units on the market, yet due to the following explanation, the airconditioning will not work as expected for most folks used to modern homes. The open floor plan with wide windows and doors are meant to give the feeling of the typical island life outdoors, breathing the fresh air, and bringing in the unique sounds of Bali’s heart… Ubud. At most houses of this kind, and unlike overseas buildings, ceilings are high and walls have no insulation, the glass windows are thin and there is no rubber around the frames to contain the temperature inside. The living room downstairs has windows all around, if these windows are kept opened at all times, specially during a hot day, the cool air from the AC upstairs won’t do the job upstairs, and neither will cool down the living room downstairs. To keep the inside cool and fresh during the day, we suggest to keep all doors and windows open, and make rather use of the ceiling and portable fans in both floors. It isn’t until 5:30pm that we suggest to close all doors and windows to prevent mosquitoes from entering, as they become very active around that time. The AC in the bedroom is very powerful and it will work perfectly if ALL windows and doors are closed, but please understand that it is not intended to cool the downstairs area, if the doors are kept open, is best to use only the fans, as it will overwork the AC.
