No. 5 in the rolling South Downs

A beautiful, one bed apartment with its own kitchen and shower room attached to our family home with its own front door and small courtyard with seating & outside lighting. On the South Downs border, close to the local medieval town centre, No. 5 is perfect for ramblers/walkers, cyclists, business people looking to stay near Southampton or Winchester or simply a quiet break away. Free parking available. There are 5 steps down to the front door. The property is not suitable for wheelchairs. The space The main house was once a large, round, Victorian water reservoir serving the local town and the external walls are therefore curved! The room has been completely refurbished and has everything you'd need for a short stay. There is a shower room with cupboards, a kitchenette with fridge/freezer, microwave and 2 ring induction hob. One kingsize bed, two reclining armchairs and side table, dining table and two chairs, wardrobe with hanging space and shelves and a chest of drawers. There is outside PIR lighting for the steps and courtyard area and external cameras for the gates and shared parking area for extra security. Guest access The room is attached to the main house and, with prior agreement, you are welcome to wander around the private and secluded gardens and use the seating available. Please note that there is a door from No. 5 to our main house which we will keep locked during your stay. During your stay We are usually at home and are happy to help with any queries, local information or any extra supplies you may need. Other things to note We're on the edge of the South Downs National Park, a few miles from the historic City of Winchester, Southampton and Portsmouth and close to the M27 and M3. There are plenty of walks around the local lanes and countryside and some lovely rural pubs for refreshments and meals. Marwell Zoo is a few miles away. The main town of Bishops Waltham is 15 minutes' walk down hill and 20 minutes back up! Driving is an option though, and there are two car parks in town each with the first hour free. There are lots of independent shops and restaurants including a butcher, two bakeries, greengrocer, hardware shop, boutiques and two small supermarkets. Across the road from the main town are the remains of Bishops Waltham Palace, the North Pond and an old railway track perfect for walkers and cyclists. There are endless local places of interest including plenty of National Trust and English Heritage sites nearby as well as Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays, Winchester Cathedral and West Quay in Southampton for shoppers. Check in - 3pm Check out - 11am Please leave No. 5 locked, lights turned off and waste in the bins provided. Please leave the door key and gate fob in the room. We have three cats. All are very friendly, love being made a fuss of and two are very inquisitive so watch out they don't get stuck in cupboards, cars, or wardrobes!
