Gîte Le Sambre

This memorable place is anything but ordinary. The history of our houseboat, or modern comfort meets the soothing calm of the water, for a total escape. Our barge has not sailed for years but in 2023 it was refurbished. The boat dates from 1947, it supplied the barges with drinking water on the Meuse, repatriated about 35 years ago to the Thuin shipyard which no longer exists. It served as a restaurant until 2022 and then was transformed into a gîte. The space Our boat has just been completely redone, paintings, bathroom, kitchen. There's a foosball table in the living room. We had to bring it up to current standards, so the engine was put back into operation as well as the rudder. The boat left at the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 for the Andenne shipyard where the hull was checked and put back in order. Our boat is sailing now, but we don't sail with it. We made a children's playroom in the front of the boat, with hoops, balls on the ground, and a ball to swing. Outdoor lighting to see clearly at night Other things to note You have everything you need around the boat, restaurants, bakery, butcher, clothing stores, decorations, florists, jewelers, cheese, fried food and everything can be done on foot, you also have a laundromat nearby. You also have a lot of walks in the city of Thuin. Wear walking shoes because Thuin is very hilly, great walk of the hanging gardens with good shoes because it goes up and down. By car you have a lot of restaurants, including one that I recommend which is in front of the boat, the Zyth'os Boat which is a boat restaurant but also a brewery with a terrace in good weather and you can go there on foot.
