The Kindred Duo Cottages are a charming lakefront retreat made up of two fieldstone foundation cabins and a vintage boathouse. Located just two hours from Milwaukee, on beautiful, crystal clear Pine Lake in rural Northern Waushara County, the property is a perfect getaway for small family or friend groups who appreciate being off the grid with a few modern comforts. *Please note that due to the availability of our cleaning staff, checkouts are not allowed on Friday or Saturday nights. The space The largest cottage, affectionately known as the MIGHTY, was built in 1945 and is air conditioned and heated. It is clean and cozy with lots of updates including a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, griddle, toaster, electric hand mixer and blender; a dining room with a view of Pine Lake that seats 8; a cozy living room; a full bathroom (sink, toilet, shower); primary loft bedroom with a half bath (sink, toilet), and two small bedrooms--one of which doubles as a laundry room with a washer and dryer. The MIGHTY also has a deck with space for grilling and outdoor dining, and it sleeps up to 8 depending on your level of comfort with coziness and proximity to your family and friends. The MIGHTY'S sleeping spaces look like this: Loft Bedroom (Queen Bed & Futon), Bedroom 1 (Full Size Bed), Bedroom 2 (Twin Bunk Beds), Living Room (Queen Sleeper Sofa). The TINY, our property's original structure, is a separate, 1920s vintage cabin. Sleeping here will be kind of like "glamping." The TINY is equipped with a ceiling fan, a small sink with running water, a coffee/snack station where you will find an electric kettle, a coffee press, and basic drink and dishware. The windows have screens for catching evening breezes. It is a great spot for teens, ladies, or a couple. TINY has 2 Twin Beds and sleeps 2. Our BOATHOUSE feels like going to sleep away camp, but on the water. It is perfect for teens or maybe a few guys that like to stay up a little bit later than the rest of the crew. It has an historic family game table, a bait and beer refrigerator, a counter area, and a sleeping space. The BOATHOUSE sleeps 3 to 4 and includes: Twin Bunk Beds and a Full Size Bed. Hammocks are also possible. Pine Lake is a full recreational lake. A stay at Kindred Duo Cottages includes access to many OUTDOOR TOYS: kayaks, SUPS, a rowboat, a canoe, a dock, a lakeside deck and bar, a few retro bikes, a bit of basic fishing gear, lots of outdoor seating, a firepit, a gas grill, plus s'more & pudgie pie tools. Our INDOOR TOYS include a couple yoga mats, a dartboard, a TV & DVD player, and a small collection of movies, games, puzzles and books for quieter days. Guest access The neighborhood is rural with many lakes and natural beauty all around. We have a driveway where you may park your vehicles during your stay. Other things to note We’ll provide basic bedding and pillows, shower towels and hand towels, a few beach towels, hand soap at each sink, dish soap in the kitchen, dish cloths and dish towels, trash bags, and a few rolls of toilet paper and paper towel to get you started. Additionally, with sustainability in mind, the property is stocked with an abundant supply of wash and re-use cups, plates and flatware. The rest is up to you. Bring your sunscreen, flip flops, bug spray, and a favorite pillow or blanket. Consider bringing along extra blankets or a sleeping bag if it is early or late in the season and the weather forecast is chilly—especially if you plan to sleep in the Tiny or the Boathouse. Bring life jackets if you have a large group or require unique sizes, fishing gear if you are a pro, inflatable rafts, and water toys. Also bring along any games, books and magazines that you have been waiting for the right moment to enjoy. Bring your coolers, groceries, and favorite beverages including drinking water. If you would like to shop local, there are several grocery options in Waupaca (Pick n Save, Piggly Wiggly, Aldi), Benny's Wild Rose Market as well as a coffee/sandwich/ice cream & gift shop with free Wi-Fi (Red Mill Inn) just a few minutes away.
