Huska Creek Cabin - Unique Catskills Escape
Huska Creek Cabin - as featured in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Architectural Digest & Cabin Porn - a unique property nestled within 6.5 acres of pristine Catskills woodland. We have a serene private creek, mountain view & meadow. Staying here is magical. We're tiny - but quality. Enjoy the beauty around you & disconnect whilst staying connected with strong WiFi. The cabin mere minutes from the towns of Andes & Delhi where you can find boutiques, coffee shops and great food options. The space Huska Creek Cabin is more than a place to stay - it's a magical experience. You feel fully immersed in nature, yet have all the mod cons (speedy WiFi, luxe bathroom etc). And close enough to two of the best local towns for amazing wine, beers, cider, produce, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and more! Featured in The New York Times, Cabin Porn (if you are a fan of cabins you know the gravitas of this) and Architectural Digest as 'One of the Best Hudson Valley Airbnbs'! A place to disconnect - whilst staying connected. We have stayed in hundreds of Airbnb's all over the world including many (many!) in the Catskills and none are as magical as Huska Creek Cabin. It is hard to describe the vibe. Huska Creek Cabin is one of the only remaining (or only remaining as far as we are aware) famous DIY 'Bolt Together' houses that was designed in the 70s by architect Jeffrey Milstein. There has been a huge amount of media attention around these houses having featured in many design books. We were keen to keep this important legacy alive. We lived in London and Brooklyn for years so even though we wanted to create a woodland retreat, we also can't say we don't enjoy mod-cons and a bit of luxe! We also wanted to enable guests to remote work from the cabin so strong WiFi and comfort was super important in the design. Highlights: - We created the space with everything that city folk need in mind yet not losing that woodland retreat vibe - it is a modern and unique designer furnished cabin where the views and vibe speak for themselves. - Our WiFi is super fast and reliable. We have remote worked from the cabin often! You can stream, Zoom and anything else you might need to do - and the WiFi stretches to the deck so you can work from there too. - We have a full modern heating system throughout - living area, bathroom and loft bedroom which keeps the cabin toasty in the winter months. It is electric so heats the cabin up real quick - no messing around with wood fires etc! - Having stayed in the cabin ourselves, we must say it's one of our favorite places on earth. The grounds of the property are serene and magical, especially the private creek. - The cabin's namesake 'creek' is one of the many reasons we love Huska Creek Cabin. With the windows open, the sound of the creek lulls you to sleep at night. - Huska Creek Cabin is easily accessible, nestled in 6.5 acres of private land, with private 2 acre pristine meadow that separates the cabin from the road (think of it as your very big private garden!) yet has a private driveway through the middle so you can park right above the cabin entrance. So coming home with provisions is very easy. - Huska Creek Cabin is nestled in private woodland that stretches as far as the eye can see. It is very safe yet has no onlookers aside from the friendly horses from the farm down the road. - Huska Creek Cabin feels like you are in your own woodland oasis but is close enough (under 10 minutes!) to two towns (Delhi and Andes) so as not to feel isolated. Delhi and Andes are home to a bounty of makers and creators who have transformed the area into a bastion of unique small businesses. - We have a huge picture window that looks over a panoramic deck with woodland and mountain views, complete with BBQ and fire-pit. We've stayed in hundreds of Airbnbs and never found anywhere quite like it. - You can take a dip in the creek that runs directly next to the cabin, watch the stars or even dance the night away as there are no direct neighbors to disturb! We love that! - If it's a little cold outside, get cozy indoors and snuggle up on the sofa or reading chair next to the picture window - you will literally feel like you are outdoors. We have been known to spend many hours just enjoying that view - it really is something. - The furniture in Huska Creek Cabin has been very carefully selected for the space, with a a number of unique pieces. The designer sofa was very carefully chosen as it's the perfect size to enjoy both the amazing picture window during the day and the strategically placed projector screen for movie nights. - The loft bedroom is a delight with fantastic light and views - you can see the stars and moon from bed. You can rest peacefully knowing that there will be no annoying sounds to wake you - which is a real treat after living in the city with traffic and neighbors. - The kitchen has everything you need and has been carefully curated for the small space. We have a thing for design so have tried to incorporate items that are functional but also look good - like our farmhouse sink, retro style fridge, mini oven that comfortably fits two pizzas!/toaster (all in one), hob, custom-built cabinets and ample storage. - Huska Creek Cabin didn't have a bathroom when we bought it so adding this space was challenging! A lot of time went into making sure we had a stylish yet functional bathroom which meant we had to think out-of-the-box with an incinerator toilet, (which actually works better than a normal toilet and is super easy / great for the environment), and hot, powerful shower with high-end tiles and fixtures. Everything is brand new. - The sun room has 360 degree views of the landscape and is a place where you can enjoy the sounds of the creek whilst reading, working and sipping a coffee or wine. - We don't only have the cabin and woodland to enjoy but we also own the meadow which is perfect for watching the sunset, playing games, yoga or just soaking up the sun on a hot summers day. The history of the property is also very special to us. We found Huska Creek Cabin when it was just a shell and spent months restoring it whilst keeping its original charm. Once owned by a famous New York playwright who used the cabin as a writing retreat, and featured in a design magazine in the 70s, Huska Creek Cabin has a truly unique feel and is a magical experience. We believe that if a place is thoughtfully designed, it doesn’t matter how big it is. We’ve made sure that every inch of the cabin is as perfect as possible. Some of our favorite things about Huska Creek Cabin are: - Waking up in the loft bedroom to the lull of the creek - Taking dips in the creek - Watching the stars and moon from the deck and bed - Looking out of the huge picture windows to the views of the woodland and creek (some people have spotted baby deer in the woodland as they have been enjoying coffee!) - Chilling in the sun room after a long hike - Sipping coffee on the deck or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening - Sunbathing on the meadow - Sitting around the fire-pit on the deck after a BBQ - Having complete and utter privacy (cannot be beaten) - Enjoying the Farmers Market in Delhi and having a drink in Weaver Hollow on a Saturday (both under 10 minutes away!) - Working in the woods (only when we have to!) The cabin feels like you are away from the rest of the world but has all the mod-cons you’d want: - Very speedy WiFi (more than good enough for remote working/Zoom calls/movie streaming) - Beautiful hot shower - Central heating system - Complete kitchen - Chromecast-enabled projector (all set up for you - no need to bring anything) and huge pull down screen - Smart speaker - Record player - Super comfy queen-sized bed and high end linens However what makes Huska Creek Cabin truly unique is the setting. A place where you can completely switch off whilst taking in the beauty around you. As we said, we had the pleasure of staying in Huska Creek Cabin whilst we renovated it and have taken great pride in knowing it’s a tiny, but a truly well thought out cabin. IG: @huskacreekcabin Guest access The entire cabin and 6.5 acres are yours to enjoy. You will hear only the creek and wildlife and will not be disturbed. There is a private gravel driveway that cuts through the meadow so you can park directly above the entrance to the cabin. Our property manager will co-ordinate check in and will be on hand if need be. Other things to note Huska Creek Cabin is a tiny house. As the cabin is very unique and is situated next to the creek we had to think out of the box with some things. We have a top of the range incinerator toilet - the ‘Cinderella’. We did not want to pollute the landscape and deemed a compost toilet not very luxury so went with an alternative that is honestly better than a normal toilet. The loft bedroom is one of our favorite things about the cabin as you get a full 360 view of the forest and sounds of the creek. Just note that the loft is accessible only via ladder (see pictures). The cabin is accessible via a wooden staircase from the meadow (see pictures) so we ask you to please take care when entering, especially during the winter months. We do not have a TV in the old school sense (we think TVs ruin the vibe as distract from the views / decor) but have a projector and huge 100 inch screen, fully equipped with Chromecast TV The BBQ is available to use all year around and is a charcoal BBQ. The outdoor fire (solo stove) and fire pit on the meadow are available for use all year around. Please bring your own firewood. You can get this from Delhi (the gas station, Price Chopper, Tractor Supply and many other places) - just a 7 minute drive away : )
