The space The fireplace room is located on the 2nd floor of the defense tower. It can be reached via a 4 m wide old oak staircase where no step is like the other. The room walls are over 4.50 m high and made of grouted field stones. The room is flooded with light at any time of the day, as it has windows facing all directions. Particularly impressive is the view from the floor-to-ceiling east window of the 9th century Wehrmotte. There is a no longer functioning fireplace from the 16th century, which gives the room its name. The wood-fired underfloor heating provides cozy warmth. The floor in industrial optics and the modern bathroom complete the charm of the room. During your stay I'm happy to be here for you personally. Other things to note Modern meets medieval. Our castle from 1644 does not have shutters due to its age, and the windows cannot be darkened. We heat exclusively with wood from our own forest. A solar system supports the heating and generates hot water. Thanks to our PV systems with storage, we cover 80% of our electricity needs. Through active forestry, we store about 600 tons of CO2 every year. We are particularly proud of our restored mill wheel, with which we generate 8000 kW of electricity every year.
