Tradition and modernity at the Château de Cols

Nestled in a park with a water lily pond and swimming pool, the 14th-century chateau is located in the heart of Cantal in Auvergne. With space for up to 12 people, it is the ideal place for a family celebration or vacation with friends. As an ideal starting point for excursions in the area or just to relax. The space Built in the 14th century, Château de Cols is located in the heart of the chestnut grove of Cantal.  You will reach your refuge via a private access road. It is located in a wonderfully quiet environment in the middle of a beautiful, almost 2 hectares park with old trees, a non-fenced water lily pond, a private, heated swimming pool and a small chapel.   The total of approximately 700 square meters of living and usable space of the chateau is distributed as follows:   Ground floor:  Here you will find the very large, fully equipped kitchen with a 5 m long table, a gas stove and 2 electric ovens, large fridge/freezer and dishwasher.  Upon request, the services of a private chef can be arranged. Also on the first floor is the dining room, a living room with large sofa area and flat-screen TV as well as a Sonos music streaming system and Wi-Fi Internet access. Adjacent to the kitchen is a bedroom in the tower, with a double bed and private bathroom with shower and toilet (golden room).    Mezzanine:  Here is the bathroom with shower and toilet, which is used by the two bedrooms on the second floor.   First floor: On the second floor of the chateau is the 75 m² master bedroom with stunning views over the garden. The suite is equipped with a large double bed, a lounge area with 89-inch flat-screen TV and stereo system, spacious dressing room and a coffee maker. The exceptional bathroom is located in the adjacent tower and is equipped with a rain shower, double vanity, toilet and towel warmers. (green room) On the floor there is also a bedroom in the tower with a double bed, private bathroom with bathtub and toilet, access to the office (white room) and another bedroom with a double bed, private shower room with toilet (blue room)   Second floor:   On the second floor there is plenty of room for exercise and games even on rainy days. The gym is equipped with yoga mats and meditation cushions, dumbbells and kettlebells as well as a punching bag. In the games room is a tournament pool table (9 ft.) and a dartboard. From here you can enter the tower, which is converted into a wellness and massage room. Massages can be booked upon request. There are also 2 bedrooms on this floor in the adjacent wing. One of the bedrooms is equipped with a double bed and streaming TV (Aspen room). In addition, there is another bedroom with a double bed (St. Moritz room).   In order to get an exact picture of the room layout, please note the attached floor plans of the Chateau.   The Chateau de Cols is the perfect base for excursions. In the immediate vicinity, there are numerous opportunities for activities: canoe and kayak base Vieillevie, hiking in the Cantal mountains, in the chestnut grove and on the Way of St. James (GR 465 at 3 km), discovery of the Truyère gorges, the Lot valley and the Great National Site Puy Mary, visit of Conques, which is one of the most beautiful villages in France, and the characterful small towns of Marcolès and Montsalvy as well as Salers, a completely preserved Renaissance town. Once you are back from your excursions in the chateau, enjoy the tranquility and privacy.   All beds are 180 x 200 cm. The heated swimming pool measures 10 x 5 m and is from May 6 May to 30 September. On the property there are parking spaces for 5 cars. A washer and dryer are located in an exterior-accessible laundry room. Our caretaker couple will be happy to assist you with any questions or problems during your stay and lives in the building to the west of the park. All shops and services are located in Montsalvy or Lafeuillade en Vézie, 9 km away. Aurillac is 28 km away. On the park property there is an unfenced water lily pond - children must be supervised - there is a risk of drowning.   Upon your arrival, the booked beds are made, towels, pool towels and kitchen towels are provided.  Gas central heating, water, electricity and wireless Internet are included in the price.
