Tradition and modernity at the Château de Cols

Nestled in a park with a magnificent water lily pond and swimming pool, the 14th-century chateau is located in the heart of the Cantal in the Auvergne. With space for up to 14 people, it is the ideal place for a family celebration or a vacation with friends. As an ideal starting point for excursions in the area or just to relax. Staycation at its best! The space Built in the 14th century, the Château de Cols is located in the heart of the chestnut grove of the Cantal.  You reach your retreat via a private access road. It is located in a wonderfully quiet environment in the middle of a beautiful, almost 2-hectare park with old trees, an unfenced water lily pond, a private, heated swimming pool and a small chapel.   The Chateau's total living and usable area of approximately 700 square meters is distributed as follows:   Ground floor:  Here you will find the very large, fully equipped kitchen with a 5 m long table, a gas stove and 2 electric ovens, a large refrigerator/freezer, and a dishwasher.  The services of a private chef can be arranged upon request. Also on the ground floor is the dining room, a living room with a large sofa area and flat-screen TV, as well as a Sonos music streaming system and Wi-Fi internet access. Adjacent to the kitchen is a bedroom in the tower, with a double bed and private bathroom with shower and toilet (golden room).    Mezzanine:  Here is the bathroom with shower and toilet, which is used by the two bedrooms on the second floor.   First floor: On the first floor of the chateau is the 75 m² master bedroom with stunning views over the garden. The suite is equipped with a large double bed, a lounge area with an 89-inch flat-screen TV and stereo system, a spacious dressing room and a coffee machine. The extraordinary bathroom is located in the adjoining tower and is equipped with a rain shower, double sink, toilet and towel warmers. (Green room) On this floor there is also a bedroom in the tower with a double bed, an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and toilet, access to the office (white room), and another bedroom with a double bed and a private bathroom with shower and toilet (blue room)   Second floor:   On the second floor, there is plenty of room for exercise and games, even on rainy days. The gym is equipped with yoga mats and meditation cushions, free weights and kettlebells, and a punching bag. In the games room there is a tournament pool table (9 ft) and a dartboard. From here you can access the tower, which has been converted into a wellness and massage room. Massages can be booked upon request. There are also 2 more bedrooms on this floor in the adjacent wing. One of the bedrooms is furnished with a double bed and a streaming TV (Aspen room). In addition, there is another bedroom with a double bed (St. Moritz room).   To get a clear idea of the room layout, please refer to the attached floor plans of the Chateau.   Chateau de Cols is the perfect base for excursions. There are numerous opportunities for activities in the surrounding area: the Vieillevie canoe and kayak center, hiking in the Cantal mountains, in the chestnut grove and on the Way of St. James (GR 465 at 3 km), discovering the Truyère gorges, the Lot Valley and the Grand Site National du Puy Mary, visiting Conques, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and the characterful small towns of Marcolès and Montsalvy, as well as Salers, a completely preserved Renaissance town. As soon as you are back at the chateau from your excursions, you can enjoy the peace and privacy.   All beds are 180 x 200 cm. The large heated swimming pool measures 10x5 m and is open from May 6th to September 30th. There are parking spaces for 5 cars on the property. A washing machine and dryer are located in a laundry room that is accessible from the outside. Our caretaker couple will be happy to assist you with any questions or problems during your stay and live in the building to the west of the park. All shops and services are located in Montsalvy or Lafeuillade en Vézie, 9 km away. Aurillac is 28 km away. There is an unfenced water lily pond on the park property. Children must be supervised, as there is a risk of drowning.   Upon your arrival, the booked beds will be made, and towels, pool towels and kitchen towels will be provided.  Gas central heating, water, electricity and wireless internet are included in the price.
