Historic family stay, BBQ hut, beautiful walks

Set high up in the beautiful Moorfoot Hills of the Scottish borders, this 200 year old converted saw mill is our family home that we rent out for just a few of weekends a year. You’ll find this to be the perfect getaway bursting with personal touches and our own family character. Ideal for families or couples. We are situated just 35 mins away from both Edinburgh and the stunning Tweed valley with fishing, mountain biking and hill walking. We also have a BBQ hut which is perfect in all weathers! The space We have been renting out our annex for the last 3 years as super hosts and are now renting our home part of the house. A beautifully modern home set in a converted historic Mill with 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom. Our home is ideal for families with a large secluded garden with a newly appointed BBQ hut that seats 8 people for barbecuing in all weathers, a children's slide, two swings and a large trampoline. All bedrooms are fitted with the highest quality beds and mattresses. The master bedroom has a modern ensuite bathroom and the unique feature of floor level bedroom windows that look out onto the garden from the comfort of the bed once the blinds are raised. We also have a spacious galleried landing with sofa and a children's reading "nook" with a bean bag and cushions. Living room and dining areas are spacious with a gas fire in the dining room, and a log burner in the living room for those chillier Border's evenings. The living room also has large French doors that open out onto the spacious garden with views into the immediate woods and beyond. Pheasants and wild deer are a common sight in our garden and the surrounding countryside. Set in a deep valley but high up in beautiful rolling hills of the Scottish borders, this is the perfect place to unwind. Guest access Guests have access to the main house except for the garage and annex that we will be staying in. We have a larger front/side garden with full access, to the BBQ hut and children's play area and the rest of the garden, and a further small side garden with vegetable boxes with more limited access to protect the plants. Our home is set on the Borthwick Hall estate with 8 other cottages/homes with a communal drive. We have parking for up to 4 cars although 3 cars is more comfortable. Other things to note We are situated in a small community of houses where peace and tranquility is the norm. There are other young families on the estate who are warm and friendly, but we please ask you to respect their privacy. This is our full time family home and because of that we do request a refundable deposit. We will be asking that you secure your booking with a £350 deposit, fully refundable after checkout.
