Western Cottage, Porlock Weir

Western Cottage sits on the beach side of the harbour bridge at Porlock Weir, a charming, recently renovated property with views towards the harbour from the front and a private patio-garden leading directly onto the beach at the rear. With 3 bedrooms and an upstairs bathroom, it sleeps up to 6 guests, plus a pull-out mattress under the bunk beds suitable for a child. The space Entry is via a porch into the hallway. The ground floor comprises a living room with wood-burner, separate dining room, country kitchen with all new appliances including a double electric oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave, and a bunk bedroom. Upstairs are a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and the family bathroom with bath, shower over, toilet and hand basin. Outside, a small south-facing cobbled patio sits at the front, while the rear patio-garden opens straight onto the shingle beach, with outdoor furniture for sitting out and an outside loo. Pedestrian garden gates now enclose both front and rear areas. Two designated parking spaces are available on the mainland side of the harbour bridge, about 75 metres' walk from the door. A television and wifi are available, with electricity and heating included in the price, plus central heating and a wood-burning stove with a starter basket of logs. A further fridge with small freezer, along with the washing machine and dryer, is housed in the outbuilding off the rear courtyard. Bed linen and towels are provided, and some welcome essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and a bottle of wine are left for arrival. One well-behaved dog is welcome for a supplement of GBP 20, with two small dogs considered on request; dogs must be kept off furniture, downstairs only, and not left unattended. The property is strictly non-smoking and not suitable for those with restricted mobility or wheelchair users. It's a lovely spot for children, with direct access to the beach and harbour, though close supervision is needed near the water.
