Historic 4-star house, a real country gem in the heart of Nyons in Drôme Provençale, completely renovated and carefully decorated, Villa Barri offers you a relaxing and escapist stay with its swimming pool, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 large terraces and garden with bamboo grove, plancha, ping-pong and petanque terrain. Charming cottage, ideal for stays of up to 10 people, equipped with fiber optic internet and a wood-burning fireplace, it will delight you in all seasons. The space Very quiet, Villa Barri is fully rented and is available year-round. Linens, bed sheets, towels, dish towels and pool towels are included. You will feel like you are in the countryside while being in the city center of a charming village in the South of France. We renovated this house for 9 months with all our attention to detail and hope you'll like the place. Here you’ll find: ON THE GROUND FLOOR - An entrance with coat racks and a shoe rack - The 33 m2 "Yellow Room" (160 x 200 bed), private bathroom with freestanding bathtub and living room with TV (Free box with all channels, including international ones) - A laundry room including a washing machine, dryer, iron, ironing board and cleaning products ON THE 1ST FLOOR The light is bright and the living rooms overlook the very quiet south-facing garden. - A fully equipped kitchen with 2 ovens, a 4-burner stove, a dishwasher, a microwave, coffee makers (a filter coffee maker, a SMEG espresso machine that works with ground coffee and not capsules, a piston coffee maker), a juicer, a blender, a 4-slice toaster as well as a raclette machine and a fondue machine for your winter stays - A living room with fireplace: you will discover, as in the whole house by touch, works of art by local artists. The fireplace, functional in winter, will make good warm fires (wood is available for a fee on request) - A dining room for 10 people: the ceramic tableware service was custom-made by local ceramist Sandrine Bonfils. Plates and cutlery for babies and children are also available - The 30 m2 shaded terrace with garden furniture and an outdoor dining table for 10 guests - A library corner with books to read on site and board games. Several books will tell you the regional history... - Toilets ON THE 2ND FLOOR - The "Balcony Room" of 13 m2 (160 x 200 bed) with its romantic balcony overlooking the garden with views of the Baronnies mountains - The "Arcades Room" of 13 m2 (160 x 200 bed) also overlooking the garden with its private shower room and mountain views - The "Green Room" of 9 m2 (bed 140 x 190) which overlooks a very quiet one-way street with little traffic - The green bathroom with its bathtub and 2 sinks - a separate toilet ON THE 3RD FLOOR - The "Sand Room" of 20 m2 (160 x 200 bed) with mountain views, a private bathroom with toilet, and an office GARDEN / AREA The fenced garden offers: - A 2.25 m by 4.25 m swimming pool with an anthracite gray liner (please note, for children, the only safety of the swimming pool is to close the bar cover - refer below for details) - A large new plancha with double cooking area, an outdoor table accommodating 10 guests, a hammock-chair, a garden room - Deckchairs and several garden furniture to enjoy various "corners" and views - A pétanque court (provencal ball game) - A ping-pong table You will have a free secure parking space with an access badge located 5 meters from the house. Free parking is also a few dozen meters from the house (Place de la Libération and Promenade de la Digue). A charging station for two electric cars is located right next to the house, at 58 Promenade de la Digue. If you have any questions or requests, we will be happy to respond as soon as possible. Guest access Villa Barri is rented in its entirety, with its secure parking space graciously included. Free parking is a few minutes walk from the house. A public electric car charging station is also right next to the house at 58 Promenade de la Digue. Other things to note NEW ORGANIC BEDDING & SOFT SHEETS The mattresses are made of new organic latex from 2023, made in France. Two pillows per person are provided in each room. They are made of organic cotton. The sheets are soft (5-star hotel quality): they are made of organic cotton satin certified Oeko-Tex® (197 threads/cm²), made in the Vosges. Bath towels are made of thick organic cotton, Oeko-Tex® certified, made in Portugal. Pool towels can be found in the basket below (bath towels in the bedrooms should not be used outdoors). RECREATION AND SHOPPING CLOSE TO THE HOUSE The location of Villa Barri is exceptional: it is located on a very quiet street in the historic city center of old Nyons. You will be able to reach, without a car or bike: - One of the cafes-restaurants of the charming Place des Arcades in less than a minute's walk - The famous Romanesque Nyons Bridge in 3 minutes on foot - One of the many beaches on the Eygues River where you can swim and stroll (remember to bring your own personal beach towels for your stay as the bath towels and pool towels of Villa Barri cannot be taken out of the house) - The Bleu Provence Distillery, which produces essential oils from lavender (several species to discover!), thyme, rosemary, savory, etc. and whose warm team organizes very interesting tours and workshops - The places where the writer René Barjavel (La Charette Bleue, La Nuit des Temps, Ravages, etc.) from Nyons (1911-1985) lived - The Randonne Tower, another historic monument of Nyons Forts District, within a 5-minute walk - The vast, rich and lively Provencal market of Nyons on Thursday mornings, nationally recognized, which will offer you its local products (olives, fruits and vegetables, cheeses, herbs of Provence, soaps and handicrafts) in less than a minute's walk. Another food and craft market is held on Sunday mornings in high season from mid-May. A basket with nets for fruits and vegetables for shopping is available in Villa Barri - The Nyons Tennis Club, which rents courts by the hour, is a 2-minute walk from the house (possibility to book on the Tenup website) - The Nyons Water Park of 6000 m2 open every day, 2 minutes' walk away (with a 25 m pool reserved for swimmers until 1 p.m. every day) - 7 mountain bike trails from Nyons - A health center (sophrology, acupuncture, kundalini yoga, wellness massage, hair vibration therapy, psychotherapy, kinesiology) within a 5-minute walk - Also from the house, you will enjoy many hiking trails for all levels, as well as bike tours, in Mont Ventoux and in the Baronnies. Bikes, including electric bikes, can be rented within a 3-minute walk of the house - The cinema with a nice selection of new and older films, including sessions in Original Version, is just a 2-minute walk from the house - The Baronnies Tourist Office, 1-minute walk from Villa Barri, which can advise you on all your activities (see also below here "A little tourism...") - All the necessary shops, including an organic and bulk grocery store, a delicatessen, two bookstores, several toy stores, pharmacies, all within a 3-minute walk 4.5 HOURS FROM PARIS, 2 HOURS FROM LYON, MARSEILLE, MONTPELLIER AND GRENOBLE The Nyons bus has a 1-hour connection to the Montélimar TGV station and a 1-hour 20-minute connection to Avignon TGV. The bus stop is a 1-minute walk from the house in front of the Nyons tourist office. You can easily stay at Villa Barri by coming without a car from your train station. NEIGHBORHOOD Villa Barri is adjoining two other townhouses. Out of respect for our friendly neighborhood, it is requested not to plan a party or make noise after 10pm. EQUIPMENT AND GAMES FOR CHILDREN A high chair, changing table and baby bed are available in the house. On request, a baby bath, double Babycook, bottle warmer and/or second high chair can be provided. Please let us know when you make your reservation. There is also a basket with games for children of all ages in the house. Near the house, you can accompany your children to the Nyons Water Park (6000 m2), to the Les Barons Perchés tree climbing course in the cool mountain facing Villa Barri or to bike outings on slopes with state-certified instructors (contact us). POOL AND SAFETY The pool has NO barrier or alarm. Its approved security system, legal for a cottage, is a bar cover that needs to be opened or closed according to your needs and your ability to supervise children. Children are under the full responsibility of adults who agree to constantly monitor them when they open the cover. To view the protection system, you can search for "bar cover pool" on the internet. Armbands are available in the garden area but they do not exempt adults from constant supervision of children swimming. ORGANIC CARE Shower gel, hand soap and shampoo are available in all bathrooms. They are all from organic farming (Biocoop). Hairdryers are located in each bathroom. ON-DEMAND HOME MASSAGE Depending on the availability of the multi-qualified masseuse partner of Villa Barri, it is possible to book a massage that will take place at Villa Barri, on a massage table, in the quiet under the vaults of the bathroom on the ground floor of the "Yellow Room". To do this, contact us at the time of booking or contact the masseuse directly, whose contact details you will find in the house's welcome booklet. WATER The region suffers, like many others, from the reduction in the level of groundwater. It is requested that you comply with the water restriction guidelines and limit consumption as much as possible during high season. FANS New, quiet, portable fans are located in all rooms. REDUCED MOBILITY The house is not suitable for people with reduced mobility: the distribution over several floors of this historic 18th century house unfortunately did not allow for specific layouts. HOUSE RULES 1. You will be asked to sign the inventory at the beginning and end of your stay. 2. Smoking and vaping are strictly forbidden in the house, even with the window open, and even on the balcony of the "Balcony Room" because of the proximity to the room (curtains, wallpapers). Smoking and vaping are allowed on the 2 large terraces, where ashtrays are available. 3. It is strictly forbidden to swim in the pool with sunscreen or sun oil. The anthracite gray liner will be damaged if you swim. Guests are asked to take a shower before swimming and to use the adjustable parasol to provide shade if necessary when swimming. Any damage to the liner will be subject to compensation. 4. It is strictly forbidden to clean the pool liner with a conventional sponge. If cleaning is necessary, please use the special sponge found in the garden shed. 5. It is strictly forbidden to make any kind of noise likely to disturb our dear neighbors after 10pm, regardless of the day of the week. Thank you for your understanding. ANY QUESTIONS? Hiking, swimming, oil mill tours, Provençal market, heritage and sweetness of life await you in the wonderful Nyons region. Nyons is a picturesque small town located in Drôme Provençale, renowned for its mild and sunny climate, olive groves, lavender and rich history. The city was quickly nicknamed in history "Le Petit Nice" because of its sunshine worthy of that of Nice, exceptional in winter in particular. 1 hour from the summit of Mont Ventoux, famous and well known to cyclists, Nyons is an ideal point to explore the Drôme region, and in particular the Baronnies National Park: walking, seeing vultures, tree climbing, climbing, cycling, swimming in the rivers, discovering the local nighttime farmers' markets, taking yoga classes and enjoying the rich heritage and beauty of the landscapes are all possible activities from Villa Barri in Nyons. - The Romanesque Bridge of Nyons The bridge is a beautiful medieval bridge that spans the Eygues River. It is classified as a historic monument (see pictures). It's 3 minutes from the house. - The Oil Mills, the Vinegar Factory, and the Scourtinerie de Nyons Nyons is famous for its AOC olive oil. We recommend visiting the city's oil mills: discover the manufacturing process of this unique oil and enjoy a tasting. Nyons is also home to a historic factory of traditional scourtins, these rugs, hangings and coconut fiber products, made by the same family since 1882. The Scourtinerie has the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label. - The Provencal markets Nyons is well known for its colorful and rich Provençal market. It is held on Thursday mornings throughout the city center. You'll find local products, fresh fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, spices and more. Another craft and food market is held on Sunday mornings in Nyons. From May to October, local farmers' markets with refreshments and entertainment are held on Monday evenings from 5 p.m. in the village of Pilles, a 20-minute bike ride from Villa Barri and a 10-minute drive. - Climbing, bike tours (road, mountain bike, downhill), horseback riding, tennis, yoga, massages and hikes await you. The area around Nyons is full of marked trails, for all levels. You can take beautiful walks through the olive groves, vineyards and lavender, combining sport and relaxation in beautiful landscapes. Regarding local heritage, among the towns and villages you can visit in less than an hour from Nyons are: - Vaison-la-Romaine (20 min drive, 55 min bike): impressive Roman remains and beautiful medieval city - Grignan (25 min drive, 1h22 by bike): splendid castle of Madame de Sévigné, Correspondence Festival in July - Dieulefit (32 min drive, 1 hr 42 min bike): historic and current mecca of pottery and ceramics, nationally known - Buis-les-Baronnies (32 min drive, 1h35 by bike): another beautiful Place des Arcades with its market on Wednesday morning - Valréas (17 minutes' drive, 54 minutes' bike ride): Simiane Castle, historical monument and cultural site - Séguret, La Garde Adhémar, Chamaret, Saint May, Le Poët Laval, Le Poët-Sigillat, Taulignan, Les Gorges de Trente Pas, the Pègue Archaeological Museum…: many villages and places to discover in the region near Nyons We have written a small travel guide that you will find in the house when you arrive.
