Camp Canon - Primitive, Yet Comfortable
Description
This campsite is created and dedicated to my beloved yellow lab, Canon (2006-2022) It was one of his favorite areas. It’s a peaceful area tucked away at the bottom of a cliff line with stack stone walls well over 200 years old. We live on site and have a “free range” pup Be ready to expect Roxxie anytime. She might bark at first but just say “Hi Roxxie!” And she’ll smile and come wagging her tail for pets and cuddles if you let her. There is no running water, hence the "primitive" title! The space Situated on the rear area of our 12 acre wooded parcel, Camp Canon sits at the base of a large escarpment giving off deep mountain vibes. Our land is surrounded by over 100 acres of undeveloped woodland. Cell service is decent so you’re not in complete isolation It’s NOT a commercial enterprise. There’s only one site on our property and it’s like that for a reason, privacy! We have one extra large battery pack to keep your electronic charged if you need them. Fire is only allowed in the fire pit. Tiki candles to ward off the bugs are also available. This site will be getting better all summer as we continue to reinvest the proceeds from this venture into it. The Taconic State Parkway is about a half a mile away, but the sound that reaches the camp sounds distant water. The road has no commercial traffic. Guest access Please do not park in our driveway. Camp access is about 1/4 mile east down the road. There’s a rustic gate at the parking spot for your stay. If you pass a red barn and trailer, you’ve gone too far. Walk straight back past the curvy road sign and past the white trailer. The campsite is about 100 yards into the wood after you park at the entrance. Carry-in Carry-Out policy. Be like the Scouts and maintain a clean site. We have about a mile of walking trails meandering throughout our 12 acres. A tiny stream separates my main living space from the rest of the woods. Please stay on that side of the stream unless given written permission to access the pond. Other things to note Roxxie loves people. We’ll have a box of treats if you want to hand her one. No “people food” please. If you’re “not a dog person” then this place isn’t for you… Carry-In -> Carry-Out trash policy Leave no trace, like the Boy Scouts say
