American Immersion Stay

Immersion stay in a host family with an American trainer for teens, students, professionals, and adults up to retirement! Improve your English without flying. Quiet house in the countryside. A dynamic, effective, and fun way to improve your English. Possibility to pick you up at the TGV station in Poitier. The space We are Rebecca, Paul and our four-year-old daughter. Rebecca is a native English speaker from Louisiana, USA. She is a professional English as a Foreign Language (ESL) teacher and has experience in training organizations as well as for individual face-to-face and online classes. Holding a bachelor's degree in English literature from Louisiana State University, Rebecca began a master's degree in public health and traveled before settling in France (Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, China, Southeast Asia, Mexico, Spain, Greece). ***Rebecca only uses English to talk to our daughter who, for now, mostly answers her in French. She understands her mother perfectly and uses more and more American phrases and words.*** Paul has a BTS in nature management and protection and is a gardener in a local remarkable garden. He is originally from Deux-Sèvres (79), but speaks English well and is used to an international environment having lived in Spain and traveled. Paul worked as a facilitator in summer camps on the Atlantic coast, near Royan, where he led groups of children to discover marine life and natural habitats. He would be very happy to share his knowledge of organic gardening and wildlife with visitors. Guest access We are the happy new owners of an old house in a very quiet rural village with 5000 m2 of land to play on :) It is preferable that our guests are used to, interested in and in love with the outdoors and nature. There are many bike rides and hikes that we can do directly from the house. A charming village is a short bike ride from the house, as well as the Thouet River, Lake Cébron and the Jardins du Gué. We have a kayak and bicycles available to our guests. We prepare mostly vegetarian meals for ourselves, but we can include meat in our guests' meals if they wish. Our dishes are healthy and contain as many local ingredients as possible. We'd like to share this simple pleasure with our guests. The house has a guitar, violin, trombone, djembe and piano that we know how to play as amateurs. We would be happy to pass on what we know to our guests if they express a desire to learn.
