Welcome to our charming home. Tastefully furnished to accommodate a comfortable lifestyle while you visit the Bay Area. We are active retirees and you will be staying in our home while with travel. This home, the first floor of a duplex, is a great jumping off point for world class restaurants, unparalleled natural beauty and the exciting urban scene of Oakland and San Francisco. Our 1914 craftsman has two-bedroom and one-bath, is 1400 sq ft and home is located centrally in North Oakland. Our home features a living room, a dining room, a large kitchen with eat-in counter and a seating area. Our master bedroom has a queen bed, and the second bedroom, which doubles as a den, has an Ikea sofabed that makes into a queen-sized bed (different from what's shown in the pictures). The den/2nd bedroom also has a 42" flat screen TV with Netflix. We offer wifi to all guests, as well as a landline for local calls. The well-equipped kitchen and dining room make cooking easy, whether you are preparing simple fare or holding a dinner gathering. Our dining room easily accommodates 8 for a sit-down dinner. (No parties, please, but you are free to invite a few guests to visit in our home.) We have one bath, with a glass-enclosed tub and shower. There is good water pressure and unlimited hot water. The bath is accessed from a central hall. Behind the kitchen is another small room where the laundry facilities and storage are housed, and a back door which leads to the back porch and yard. Enjoy your morning coffee on our back porch where you can take in the surrounding flower and vegetable gardens. Amenities include: Wifi, 42" TV and Netflix (but no cable), Washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, gas stove, toaster, coffee maker, fully equipped kitchen with complete cookware and cooking basics. We provide clean sheets and towels and standard bedding. (Since this is a sideline, we will provide you with what we use for ourselves, which is more on the Target/Macy's than the Nordstroms end of the spectrum. ) Please note that unlike most airbnb hosts, we don't charge a cleaning fee. We ask our guests to leave our home as they found it and ready for the next guest. For those who prefer, we can arrange for a cleaning service and pass on the fee. We live in a cohousing community and we are happy to share information about cohousing with you. Visiting here may provide you with a bit of info about how cohousing works. Of course we ask that our guests be respectful of our cohousing community neighbors. We will provide you with info you need in advance and during your stay. You can reach us during your stay by phone and email. But usually won't meet with you face-to-face. We are just a few blocks from Rockridge/College Ave, from Piedmont Ave., and from Telegraph Ave, each of which has dozens of restaurants and bars, shopping, art galleries, coffee houses, and more. Plus, in a pinch, you're 2 blocks from Safeway and Starbucks. To travel beyond Temescal, two BART Stations, Rockridge and MacArthur, are less than a mile away, and you can hop on a bus less than 1 block away. Lyft and Uber are ubiquitous in our area and make visiting without a car easy. A Lyft ride from BART is about $6-7 regular or $4 for shared.
