This cozy downstairs room in the Milkweed Mercantile includes two twin beds and is our only dog-friendly room. The room has an exterior entrance and includes access to a shared shower and hassle-free composting toilet in common space just outside your door. The Mercantile is a beautiful strawbale building with solar power, filtered rain water, high speed wifi, as well as air conditioning and fireplace in public spaces. Breakfast can be included for a small fee if arranged in advance. The space The Milkweed Mercantile is a strawbale, solar-powered inn located at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, an intentional community of about 50 people focusing on environmentally friendly living. About the Mercantile: • Four beautiful, comfy bedrooms • Nestled into woods you'll hear owls at night, songbirds when you awaken. • High speed internet belies our rural location. • Air conditioning and a fireplace in shared spaces create a comfy atmosphere. • Guest lounge for hanging out • Customized continental breakfast available with reservation for a small fee. Dancing Rabbit is an experimental community working on living lightly together. You will find close contact with nature, few outdoor lights ensuring dark skies, and lots of people working together. We have what we believe is the largest collection of natural buildings in the Midwest and public spaces for walking. Guest access Guests have access to all shared spaces of the Mercantile including the lounge, dining room, screened porch, and bathrooms as well as wifi, a mini-fridge, kettle, and microwave. Guests can explore our village's public areas and are welcome at some village functions such as potluck. During your stay Our Innkeeper will be in touch before your visit to arrange greeting you, please feel free to reach out via the app. We will provide a map along with a description of our community and its norms. If you would like a tour or to explore any part of our village in depth, please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements. Other things to note Please note that we are in a very rural area on a gravel road with limited cell phone access. The closest restaurant and grocery store is in Rutledge, 2 miles away, closed after 5PM and on Sundays. Memphis MO (12 miles away) has more options. We can help with breakfast and possibly other food options, but please make plans ahead of time.
