Matamba Lodge - Waterberg Biosphere, Limpopo

A short 2.5hr drive from Pretoria, Matamba Lodge is located in the beautiful, malaria-free, Waterberg Biosphere. Taking only one party of up to 12 people at a time, Matamba provides a 5-star exclusive experience in a private game reserve. With a fully equipped kitchen and 5 luxury chalets it's ideally suited to groups wanting an upmarket bushveld escape. With an abundance of wildlife, 60km of sandy tracks and no dangerous game, it’s ideal for walking or cycling. The space Matamba offers an atmosphere of relaxed luxury in the bush. It’s made up of a large main lodge with a lounge, dining area, kitchen, bar and library. Folding doors open onto the expansive deck and infinity pool as well as a comfortable seating area overlooking the extensive gardens. Elegantly styled with tasteful African art, heavy wood furniture and vintage leather couches to give a sense of old-school luxury. The entire lodge is unobtrusively fenced so it is easy to see the wildlife who often like to gather on the plains in front of the main seating area and wander around the perimeter. It’s not unusual to see the Giraffe leaning over the fence to eat a few leaves off the garden trees! The lodge has a fully equipped kitchen which includes a large Smeg oven with a gas top, a big fridge freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and all the cutlery and crockery to cater for your group. Please note, the lodge is set up for self-catering, if you require catering, please reach out to discuss this with us well in advance. The outside lapa has a built-in wood stove, fire place, grid, chairs and tables for your convenience. It is ideally situated to have a relaxed braai/bbq as you watch the sunset and wildlife come to a nearby watering hole. Wood and ice can be purchased on site. We ensure the lodge is cleaned and serviced during your stay for your convenience. Please note the chalets are cleaned after your stay to give you complete privacy, if you'd like them to be cleaned while you are with us this can be arranged for an additional fee. THE CHALETS The lodge has 5 luxury private chalets which are all set approximately 10-50m away from the main building. Each chalet has a large king size bed, air-conditioning, hairdryers, built in safe and a tea and coffee station. Each room has a bathroom en-suite complete with a shower and large bath. All chalets are positioned to look out into the bush and have a small outside seating areas so you can appreciate the wildlife walking by. Our honeymoon chalet includes a small deck and private champagne pool to enjoy after a hot day as well as a discreet outside shower and bath for the ultimate bushveld experience. Our family chalet is larger and includes 2 single beds, it’s also the closest chalet to the main lodge. AN ECO FRIENDLY, LOAD SHEDDING FREE STAY! We’re continuously striving to be as ecologically friendly as possible. To achieve this almost all of our energy is sourced from renewable solar power. This means you will not be subjected to any power cuts when you stay with us. We do have limits to our system so we ask that you do use electricity mindfully. We also use an eco-friendly sewage system and source water from our own boreholes. We do as much as possible to ensure Matamba Lodge blends in with its natural surroundings, and that we have as little impact on our environment as possible. Guest access You will have exclusive access to the entire lodge and all of the facilities for the duration of your stay, no one else will be booked at the same time or have access to the lodge. Other things to note 1. Wifi is available in the main lodge 2. There is no smoking allowed in or close to the lodge or chalets 3. An additional R4000.00 refundable breakage fee will be charged and will be refunded +- 3 days after check out. 4. We have three friendly cats who live in and around the lodge. 5. We’ve tried to make Matamba as peaceful and enjoyable as possible for our guests. To maintain the tranquillity, we ask that guests only drive to the lodge and when they’re leaving Matamba – there is no driving around the reserve. This ensures the wildlife and other guests (at the campsite) are not disturbed. We have 5 lovely walking and cycle routes for everyone to enjoy. 6. We also ask all guests not to play music so that everyone can enjoy the sound of the bush, animals and birds around them.
