Other things to note Vintage Charm: The Dragonfly was built in 1964 and was used as a seasonal cottage for over 60 years! In 2021, it was renovated for use year-round. Your hosts are the third owners of this cottage, and all owners have kept the original vintage charm! This also means the cottage has quirks. The cottage is on a well and septic. If you are not used to well water, we recommend bringing drinking water with you. The cottage has four mini splits throughout the property to ensure you stay cozy and comfortable. Heat and AC are both controlled by remotes and quickly heat or cool the property. In the winter, additional electric heaters & cozy blankets are provided in the bedrooms. Northern Michigan is beautiful and The Dragonfly is a lakefront property surrounded by nature. We have pest control services year round and do our best to keep insects and other small pesky critters out of the cottage, but some may get in now and then. Security cameras are installed on the front and back doors and are only monitored when the property is empty, but can record audio and video upon motion. The light on the front of the house is on a timer, for convenience. Please note: absolutely no parties are allowed at the property, per airbnb rules. Small gatherings for dinner, girls weekends, etc OK! This is a lakefront property and there is no life guard on duty. All guests acknowledge they will be swimming, boating, ice skating, fishing, ice fishing and enjoying the lake at their own risk when booking. Be sure to check if the lake is thoroughly frozen during the winter before accessing. Lastly, we have quiet hours between 10pm and 7am - it’s very important this is followed, so our neighbors continue to be supportive of The Dragonfly! Dogs: A $145 dog fee is charged for your furry friends - two dogs maximum, unless prior approval. Please do not leave your dog alone in the cottage; they can bark and become sad, which will also disturb the neighbors. If you need to leave your dog for a short while, you’ll find two collapsible dog crates at the property you can use free of charge. Dog waste disposal bags are provided - please clean up after your furry friend! Dogs must remain leashed at all times when outdoors, there is a road very close to the cottage and we want to make sure they stay safe. Boat dock & water toys: The long boat dock can be used and is available Memorial Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. Please use the dock at your own risk, there is no lifeguard on duty. A public boat launch is less than a mile from the cottage. The kayak and paddle boat are available from Memorial Day through October! Winter months: The roads to get to the cottage are paved; however, Northern Michigan does get a lot of snow. Please plan to have a four-wheel-drive vehicle if traveling to the cottage during the Winter. The Dragonfly has a plow service after each snowfall as well. Salt is located at each door, in case conditions become icy during your stay -- and, if needed, our plow service can plow during your stay. Additionally, Michigan weather varies greatly. Some winter activities are reliant on cold weather and the lake being frozen. Services are not allowed at this property.
