My Cottage on Main... it's always a good idea.

Hello. We welcome you with old fashioned hospitality to a 100yr old heritage cottage located in the middle of all the necessities in Lake Macquarie. This classic freestanding cottage has been lovingly restored to showcase its classic style with all the modern comforts & just minutes to the waterfront & park. This is a rare find! Whether you're on holiday, visiting family or friends, a stay-cation or staying to visit a loved one in hospital... Staying at the Cottage is always a good idea! The space OUR SPACE – 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a large great room, front verandah and a gorgeous courtyard oasis. 1912 built Cottage with 13-foot ceilings and original timber floors. Ducted A/C and ceiling fans throughout for your comfort regardless of the weather outside. MODERN KITCHEN is fully equipped including quality glassware , crockery ,cookware , cake tins , serving platters , tea towels, tea ,coffee, sugar, milk , foil, glad wrap , salt , pepper ,mix master everything you should ever need on your stay. Picnic hamper and rug, Nespresso coffee machine and pods (extra pods can be purchased from your host )microwave, induction stove, crock pot MAGNOLIA ROOM - Queen bed with built in wardrobe with ensuite (spa bath, free standing shower, vanity and safety hand rails) hairdryer, TV and USB ports PROTEA ROOM - Queen bed with built in wardrobe and USB ports BLUE ROOM - Double bed and USB ports and wardrobe. Main bathroom with free standing shower, vanity and hairdryer. Separate toilet. FORMAL LOUNGE – has glass French doors to hallway - TV, DVD player, CD player, radio, board games, jigsaw puzzles and books. OFFICE SPACE- A comfy office space with desk and chair. GREAT ROOM – Dining table and 6 chairs plus banquet seating. Lounge accommodates 5 people . Sofa bed /lounge can be requested for an additional cost of $40 per night. This covers the cost of amenities , linen , etc . COURTYARD GARDEN oasis with outdoor table and chairs , undercover electric BBQ and utensils provided. Secure undercover off-street parking for 1 vehicle , with unmetered parking available in front of the cottage . We share a driveway with our neighbour so parking in your designated zone is required or additionally there is unmetered street parking in front of house. Included in your Stay. We provide a selection of breakfast items including bread, butter, weetbix and cereal and milk . (please advise of any dietary requirements) Luxury Sheridan bed linen. Pillow menu for your best sleep . Quality bath towels . Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, sanitizer, cotton buds and facial wipes . Beach towels and beach bag. LAUNDRY- Washing machine and powder , Iron, ironing board , clothesline and clothes airer, vacuum , mop. WIFI Travelling with Children? As a Grandma I know how many things you need to pack even for a 2 night stay away. I have a selection of things to help make your stay more comfortable when travelling with little ones. High Chair Portable Cot Training Potty Selection of sanitized baby toys A Cubby House- this was originally built for my Grandchildren and is located under the back of the Cottage. Kids love it! The back courtyard is a completely fenced area, meaning you can relax in the back garden oasis while the Children play. We know that regardless of your stay length you may require access to cleaning supplies. We supply a cleaning kit under the kitchen sink for you - disposable gloves, paper towels, disinfectant spray and hand sanitzer. My Cottage on Main proudly uses KOH for our Cottage cleaning & Koh Protect for sanitizing. Koh protect is a long-lasting surface sanitizer which kills 99.9% of bacteria to keep your benchtops, tabletops and other surfaces protected for 7 days, no matter what you throw at them. LOCATION- 3 fabulous coffee shops in our street ,Hairdresser, Massage therapists, Beauty and wellness services, Dress shop, Post office, 5 mins walk to SPAR general store, 5mins walk to Bottle shop, 5 mins walk Chemist & Medical Centre, Optometrist, Butcher, Newsagency, Bakery, 2 mins walk to “old school” Lake Cinema, Op-shops, Local farmers markets are every fortnight, Home Grown markets are once a month, coffee shops, 10 min walk to Speers Point Park (fenced area) with its award-winning children’s playground and café. It’s a great way to spend a day (or more). Pack the kids bikes and scooters there’s lots to do here! 10 mins walk to Lake Macquarie esplanade with walking and cycling tracks that circumnavigate Lake Macquarie. 10 min walk to Speers Point Public Pool. 200 metres walk to Boolaroo Bowling club (with Parkers restaurant) & 450 metres walk to the famous “Pippi’s” hotel & restaurant which overlooks the Lake. Fancy a day trip? 5 mins drive to Warners Bay, 13 mins drive to Toronto, 20 mins drive to Newcastle CBD, 40 min drive from Newcastle airport, 45 mins to Hunter valley wineries, 1hr Drive to Port Stephens Mobility Access. A Handrail is fitted on the path walking towards the front door as the path is sloped. The front pathway to the door is well lit at night for your safety. There is 1 step to access the front verandah however we do have a portable ramp which is easily accessible for you to use. Our cottage is one level inside the home Ensuite shower is fitted with safety handrails We also have a shower stool if you need to borrow. Transport Options Three public bus stops are located within 50 metres walking distance from our front door. We have timetables available should you need them. Cockle Creek Railway station is 1500 metres away or a 3-minute drive. Train services available to Newcastle, Central Coast and Sydney. Guest access The 3 bedroom Cottage will be yours exclusively to use while you stay. *Please Note – The Host lives in another house at the rear of the cottage with its own private access. You have the entire cottage for your private use during your stay that are fenced for both parties privacy. Other things to note We’re friendly. Eco friendly. We ask guests to please be mindful of the water consumption and encourage guests to recycle their waste using the bins and bags provided. Please take time to read house rules and other information handy for travellers kept in a Welcome Folder. On our “Locals Wall” we have collected some close food and takeaway menus for those nights you want to grab something quickly but don’t have the energy to search the internet to see what’s close by & read through reviews to know if its worth your time or money. HOSPITAL ACCESS We know that all our guests sadly won’t be on holidays when they stay with us. Some of our guests will be visiting loved ones in hospital. Apart from our central location some practical long- or short-term stays may mean that having access to a fully equipped kitchen and laundry is important to you. We would love you to be our guest and let us look after those extra requests that may come with travelling for medical reasons.
