At the cross rock

We offer a basic "camping room" for those looking for a roof over their head with adequate facilities in an old Black Forest house. It's a slightly improvised space (1 bed + 1-2 mattresses) next to a drum kit and ceramics storage at very low cost to travellers. You have your own entrance. Price includes Kurtaxe, bedding and towels. It's nothing fancy but cosy. Expect to fall in love with the countryside, hiking trails, swimming lake and a fire pit in our lovely garden. The space We live in a 400 year old Black Forest house on the edge of a small village. We have a spare room which we use only on occasion and thought, why not, it would be a good option for budget travellers - kind of in the spirit of how Airbnb first started out. It's a bit improvised in the sense that you will probably not have matching towels and that you will have some intriguing vessels of ceramic supplies in the corners. And your entrance leads through the bike shed and storage area. However, then you have your own characterful space with wooden panelling. We call the room the "bear's den" :). Across the road from the house we have a lovely wild garden which you are welcome to use to chill out, sit in the sun or make a fire. You'd typically have this all to yourself. There are lots of hiking trails in summer and winter on the doorstep as well as a lovely swimming lake, Klosterweiher. Guest access Other than your room and the bathroom opposite you can use the garden across the road behind the wooden fence. Please don't enter the garden around the house or the terrace in front of your window as these are private spaces. Thanks. During your stay You are able to check in without me. We can keep the price low by focussing on essentials only and also concentrating cleaning on areas our guests actually use (bed, carpet, desk, bathroom, bedding). We don't include daily cleaning those parts of the room which are exclusively used by us (e.g. drum kit, shelves). The vast majority of guests feel very comfortable and appreciate the priority of a low price. Please don't book this room if you are looking for hotel standard and reflect an adequate expectation in your review. Thanks!
