Mariners Hobbit House is a great escape for nature/adventure enthusiasts to experience "Old Florida" in style! Sip coffee in the hammock swings under beautiful palms while enjoying the soothing sights of nature —including the rare white squirrel! Build backyard fires under the moon and starlit sky or relax in the amazing outdoor shower. Located in a quaint bayside neighborhood and just 5 mins to public beaches and the state park, this coastal “treehouse” is the magic oasis you're dreaming of! "My favorite vacation rental I have ever stayed at hands down. There is something truly magical about this slice of heaven." Alligator Point offers great fishing, bird-watching, beaches, hiking, biking and paddling. View my Guidebook for trip planning recommendations! This coastal charmer features a fire pit, hot tub, grill, hammock swings, and more! The home also has an inflatable kayak with two standard size life jackets. Please use at your own risk during appropriate water and weather conditions. 21 Palms Kayak Rentals, located just across the street from this home, offers single and tandem kayaks and paddleboards for every level of experience, and they can deliver to the unit or meet you at the boat launch less than one block away. LIVING All furnishings, fabrics and accessories create a harmonious feel, with a touch of luxury! While keeping the character and charm of this 1970’s home, it has been thoughtfully updated featuring an open kitchen, living room, dining area with one full bath on the main level. A spiral staircase leads up to the two guest bedrooms. A separate 12x16 tiny home features a private Master. Just off the master is the enclosed outdoor bathroom with hot & cold shower and toilet for convenience. For your entertainment, there's fast WiFi, board games and two large smart TVs. Full size washer dryer ironing board and iron located in the garage. COOKING We provide guests with a complete cooking experience with essential supplies, utensils and appliances. Kitchen is fully stocked and includes a range, fridge, drip coffee maker, blender, tea kettle, toaster, microwave, dishware and cookware. There is also a charcoal grille on the back deck. Instacart grocery delivery now available! SLEEPING The home can accommodate up to 7 guests with one king bed, two double beds, and one twin. Having a good night's sleep is essential to a restful vacation! So say “goodbye" to those uncomfortable rental beds and "hello" to our comfortable mattresses. PARKING There is garage and driveway parking for up to 4 vehicles/boat trailers. I live an hour away in Tallahassee, so please let me know if you need anything! Located on Alligator Harbor – less than one hour from Florida’s capital city – enjoy hiking, biking and kayaking on the 4,000 acres surrounding the home’s neighborhood. Take a drive on the Big Bend Scenic Bi-way and experience several more coastal/historic towns less than an hour away (See Guidebook). Walk miles without passing another person, cast a rod, catch shrimp, enjoy sunsets, collect shells or just gather your thoughts. The absence of noise and glaring lights makes for prime relaxation and exquisite stargazing. See bears, horseshoe crabs, dolphins, sharks, hermit crabs, lizards, frogs, birds and more! Alligator Point’s protected bay, Alligator Harbor Aquatic Preserve, encompasses 14,366 acres and serves as a nursery for many game fish species such as grouper, snapper, cobia, tarpon, and redfish. Trout and redfish are in abundance here! Miles of pristine beaches, an abundance of shallow bays, marshes and fresh water rivers provide great outdoor opportunities including deep sea and sight fishing, boating, kayaking, bird and wildlife viewing. A unique feature to Alligator Point is one of Florida’s naturally preserved state parks, Bald Point State Park. The convergence of Ochlockonee Bay & Apalachee Bay produces diverse habitats and makes it an excellent vantage point for fall and spring migrations of birds and butterflies. Bald Point is also an outstanding observation point for year-round wildlife residents such as black bear, white-tailed deer, coyotes, bobcats and hosts of resident birds. The day-use facilities at the park include picnic pavilions, restrooms and a fishing dock. St George Island and historic Apalachicola are less than one hour away. Voted #1 beach in America by Dr Beach, the 22 miles of St. George Island Florida's beaches are serene and pet-friendly. The island consistently rates as one of the top beaches in the U.S., with miles of uncrowded expanses for sunning and shelling, clear Gulf waters for swimming and fishing, and pristine marshes for wildlife viewing. The house has a spiral staircase that might not be suitable/safe for young children. The ceilings in the loft hallway are low and may require adults to duck/hunch some. There is one full bath on the main level. A separate 12x16 tiny home right next to the main home features a private Master and just off the master is the enclosed outdoor bathroom with hot & cold shower and toilet. It is important to consider that this is glamping on a marsh in a wooded area adiacent to a state park/refuge. Though we do monthly pest control, you still may see palmetto bugs regardless. 4G cellular service is provided by AT&T and Verizon and we do have WiFi and TVs, along with playing cards, board games, and books. WiFi Speeds are Downloads: up to 300 Mbps/Uploads: up to 100 Mbps. Alligator Point is a residential neighborhood with no commerce (groceries, gas, etc), shop on the way before crossing the Ochlockonee bridge less than 10 minutes away. Instacart grocery delivery is now available! The Tiki Bar, famous Angelo’s Seafood, Trident's, and Seinyard are four great water front restaurants less than 10 minutes away (check hours online and see my Guidebook for more recommendations). Pets are absolutely welcome, but pet fee must be paid. Thanks!
