Magical mid-century home
Magical mid-century home
Description
Hautawa was designed by well-known Wellington architect Sir Michael Fowler for my great grandparents Sir Thomas & Lady Duncan in the 1950s. Sir Thomas & Lady Duncan were recognised for their philanthropy toward polio victims in the 1940s. At the time the house was designed with no expense-spared and had all the mod-cons. It’s a very early example of Sir Michael Fowler’s architectural work, but a treasure for any mid-century architecture lover. The space Hautawa is a relaxed peaceful environment situated a couple of minutes off S H 1 in the quaint little town of Hunterville, in the heart of the Rangitikei. Guest access Hautawa offers cosy BnB accommodation with access to dining and sitting rooms with an open fire or any outdoor sitting areas. During your stay I work from home and am able to offer help and advice at any time, but will keep to myself otherwise. Other things to note Price is per room rather than per guest. By booking two guests you are booking two rooms. The two rooms available to book are connected via a shared bathroom. During the weekends two further are able to be booked - for a maximum of eight guests. There may be potentially two separate parties staying during the weekend.
