Other things to note Abbiategrasso is a town located in the province of Milan, in Lombardy, with an ancient and fascinating history. Founded in 1291 by Filippo Maria Visconti, the city soon became an important religious and cultural center, thanks to the presence of the Basilica of Santa Maria Nuova, one of the city's most important monuments, dating back to the 14th century. Over the centuries, Abbiategrasso underwent numerous transformations and historical upheavals, becoming an important agricultural and commercial center thanks to its strategic location on the Via Francigena. In addition to the Basilica of Santa Maria Nuova, Abbiategrasso is famous for the Visconteo Castle, an imposing medieval structure dating back to the 14th century, which was the residence of the Visconti and then the Sforza families. Near Abbiategrasso there are also numerous tourist attractions, such as the Ticino Park, one of the most important natural parks in Lombardy, the Monastery of Morimondo, a wonderful Cistercian abbey dating back to the 12th century, and the Carnival Museum of Magenta, which houses a vast collection of costumes and objects related to the carnival tradition. The history of Abbiategrasso and its surroundings is therefore full of charm and beauty, which deserves to be discovered and appreciated by visitors. Registration Details IT015002C2XNVJKLB4
