Description
The Old School was built in 1839 as a lace school for the local girls of Wicken. It then became the accommodation for the school mistress of the new school with the estate office at one end, Which explains our two front doors and two drives! Before finally becoming the single dwelling that it is now. The Old School is a grade 2 listed simple one story stone building that oozes charm sat in the gorgeous conservation village of Wicken. All in the quiet, beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. The space At The Old School Wicken you have access to a single off road parking space (security of car and contents is entirely at your own risk) From the drive leads the path through the front garden to your own separate front door with key fob access. You enter your room, which is on the ground floor, through a small tiled lobby where you can hang coats, leave shoes etc and is separated from the main room by a thick cosy curtain. The main room contains a comfortable super king size bed, a wardrobe where you can hang clothes with shelves and additional storage drawers for smaller items. In the wardrobe there is a small steam travel iron and a compact ironing board. There is a comfortable arm chair plus a compact antique bureau with a chair where you can sit to work or do your hair etc. Off the bedroom is an en-suite with a sink, toilet and large shower cubicle containing an electric shower with rain shower head and a smaller head too. There are complimentary tea and coffee making facilities available on a side table. All bedding and towels will be provided for your stay. Through the gate, at the back of your drive, is the access to your patio area with seating overlooking our private garden to the wonderful views of the Northamptonshire countryside beyond. BREAKFAST:-PLEASE NOTE:- If you decide to take advantage of our delicious complimentary home cooked breakfast menu then you are very welcome to join us in our sunroom with gorgeous views across the countryside. Breakfast is served between 7am and 9.30am. PLEASE NOTE at 10.30am the sunroom reverts back to our private home space. The sunroom is accessed through your patio area and brollies are provided for you to use if it’s raining! We have a 5 star food hygiene rating. PLEASE NOTE:- the complimentary breakfast is dependent on the availability of the cook, in the case of an unforeseen emergency and we are unable to provide breakfast, we will inform you as soon as possible but there will be no refund as it is free. There is also no discount should you decide to not take advantage of having a free breakfast. PLEASE CONTACT US BY 9PM THE EVENING BEFORE IF YOU WOULD LIKE BREAKFAST THE NEXT MORNING. contact us by text, email or in person. EVENING MEAL:- Simple evening meals maybe available upon request and will need to be booked in advance. (Seasonal menu available in your room PLEASE NOTE THERE IS AN EXTRA CHARGE FOR THIS) If you would like a special celebration meal cooked for you then please discuss the possibilities with Amanda when booking. Please note we are not licensed to sell alcohol but are happy for you to provide your own. Evening meals are served in our sunroom between 6pm and 8.30pm. With the Sunroom closing at 10.30pm. We both work from home so are usually around and contactable throughout the day. Guest access Guests have access to a Single drive, One main ground floor bedroom with own entrance from outside (one small step over threshold) Private en-suite connected to the bedroom (on the level but with step up into shower) Patio area with seating at the back of the property. PLEASE NOTE:- Access to the Sunroom is ONLY available to those guests taking advantage of our complimentary home cooked breakfast menu and Only between 7am and 10.30am when it reverts back to our private home. (One step up into sunroom) The Sunroom may also available for evening meals which must be booked in advance and are served between 6pm and 8.30pm with the Sunroom closing at 10.30pm. Other things to note ADULTS ONLY MINIMUM AGE 21 YEARS Your room has been sound proofed as much as possible and does adjoin our house so please be aware that there may be a small amount of sound audible in BOTH directions! No dogs are allowed as unfortunately our own is not at all friendly towards them . Smoking and Vaping is strictly NOT allowed anywhere in the house or garden. Please do NOT bring food into your room.
