Other things to note Nestled where the Rum River and the Mississippi River converge, Anoka was founded in the mid-1800s as a bustling logging hub. Over the years, the town grew and prospered through potato farming, shoe manufacturing, and as a home to a state-run hospital. In 1937, Anoka gained national recognition when 12-year-old Harold Blair won a trip to Washington D.C. and proudly wore a sweater adorned with an "Anoka, Halloween Capital of the World" patch. The town quickly became famous for its unique, family-friendly Halloween celebrations—one of the first cities in the U.S. to encourage a celebration of fun over tricks. If you’re a fan of Halloween, Anoka offers plenty of spooky fun, including Guided Cemetery Tours and Ghost Tours through the town’s historic streets. Anoka is a picturesque small town with lots to explore. Enjoy scenic riverfront walks, try your luck at fishing by the dam, or attend a concert at one of our beautiful riverside parks just across the river. Whether you’re into outdoor activities, local history, or great food, there’s something for everyone. For golf lovers, Anoka boasts several fantastic courses, with one just 2 miles away from the apartment—perfect for a relaxing round of golf during your stay. Plus, Anoka is only a 30-minute drive from US Bank Stadium, Target Field, and the Xcel Energy Center, where you can catch the Vikings, Twins, Wild, or enjoy live concerts from your favorite artists. The Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is also about 45 minutes away, making it easy to access for travelers flying in and out of the area. We hope you’ll enjoy your stay in Anoka and take the time to explore the many attractions and local gems that make our town so special.
