Description

Kick back and relax in this stylish studio! Our house is in a quiet neighborhood of older homes surrounded by woodlands yet conveniently located downtown, a half mile from our village green (Milford Oval). A short stroll over the river will take you to cafes, restaurants, pubs with live music, post office, library, shops & useful stores such as CVS. Whatever brings you…business, skiing, hiking, antiques, a family celebration or a romantic weekend away…we are looking forward to hosting you! The space We custom built our home in 2003 and built the Studio apartment over our garage slowly, 2017-2020. We designed an upscale studio apartment with a large kitchenette thinking that we would Air BnB the space and then maybe downsize into it someday! Our Studio has floor- to-ceiling windows with beautiful views of the stone wall, garden and woods behind our home. We went Scandinavian with the design including hardwood maple floors, custom cabinets, IKEA furniture, indirect lighting, black-out blinds and a remote-controlled mini-split for heating, cooling and dehumidified comfort. The bathroom has a heated tile floor and walk-in shower with a built-in seat and two shower heads (one regular and one hand-held.) SEASONAL THINGS TO DO: **Spring** March: you can go see Maple Syrup being made May: Great time to walk to Lower Purgatory Falls (1/2 mike trail) **Summer** June: strawberry picking at Trombly Farm July: Kayaking on Lake Potanipo, swim at Goss Park, pick flowers or get fresh ice cream at Trombly Farm and enjoy it on their porch. **Fall** Sept: Fresh tomatoes, squash, peppers etc at Trombly Farm Oct: Haunted Trail, pumpkin picking and corn maze at Trombly Farm. Columbus Day weekend Fri-Sun : Milford Pumpkin Festival with fun, food trucks, craft booths and 3 stages with free music! Nov: Hike the trails at Andre’s Sculpture Park **Winter** 20 min to Parker’s Maple Barn (Fantastic Breakfasts, Maple Syrup products, Gift Shop.) 30 min to Skiing at Crotched Mountain 40 min to Skiing at Pat’s Peak 60 min to Lake Sunapee Resort Ski area PLEASE NOTE: The bathroom has no door, just a privacy curtain. PARKING: We have just ONE parking spot in the driveway for our Studio guests and one for our Garden View Basement Apartment. If your traveling companion also has a car, they will need to park on the gravel area on the street in front of the house. However, on-street parking is not always available in the winter because, during a snowfall, the town has a “parking ban” to allow the plows to get through! So please plan to bring only one car during the snowy months Dec-March. To get to The Studio, follow the paved pathway around the garage (to your left) and take the stairs up onto the back deck. Enter your 4-digit door code and you’ll hear the deadbolt move to open. Turn right and you’ll see your private entrance door into the stairwell which takes you up into The Studio! Message me if you have any issues getting in and call me if I don’t immediately respond. I can open the door remotely for you. Guest access Our Studio Guests have access to our deck behind the garage. This is a semi-private space with a cafe table and chairs and many flowers so it’s lovely for sipping your morning coffee or having lunch on a sunny day. (It’s semi private because it’s our pathway to the backyard from our kitchen). Please note: The Patio in front of our Garden View Apartment is a private for our guests staying there. (It has a recliner chair and an outdoor dining table with a shade umbrella.) However, the yard, meditation fort, fern garden and fire-pit patio are all shared spaces for use by our family and our guests staying in either our Luxury Studio or Garden View Apartment. Weather permitting, guests are welcome to build a fire in the fire pit and hang out there (seating for 6) to see the stars, enjoy a beverage or roast a marshmallow. If you see Cammie, Steve or other guests chatting around the fire, feel free to join us!! It’s a magical place in winter when everything is still & silent on starry nights…or in summer when you can hear our chorus of crickets or watch the fireflies blinking…or in spring & fall when the owl is hooting and hunting in the woods! However, for safety reasons, please ask Cammie or Steve in advance so we can help with the set up. Note: Our backyard ends at the stone wall so please don’t wander back into the woods. Also, you MUST always wear shoes when off the pathways and patios (due to shards of antique glass and pottery that randomly make their way up to the surface). There’s an opening at the end of the stone wall and a path into the woods, but don’t go out into the woods! It’s not our property back there and it’s a terrible place to walk with brambles, poison ivy and you could fall through soft ground into an old town dump from 1920. Please stay out of the garden shed which looks like an adorable playhouse.... but mostly it stores our lawn mower and other garden tools! If you want to climb the ladder into the play structure, it’s a nice place to read or meditate but, to respect our neighbors, it needs to be a quiet activity and you’ll need to take something to sit on to avoid splinters. A blanket and yoga mat are provided in the entryway closet for that purpose. Other things to note Sometimes my 22-year old son and his fluffy white dog named Izzy, come home during college breaks. Izzy barks occasionally…but it’s downstairs so not loud in the Studio. When outside, Izzy is always on a leash
