Kick back and relax in this stylish studio! Our house is in a quiet neighborhood of older homes surrounded by woodlands yet conveniently located downtown, a half mile from our village green (Milford Oval). A short stroll over the river will take you to cafes, restaurants, pubs with live music, post office, library, shops & useful stores such as Rite Aid. Whatever brings you…business, skiing, hiking, antiques, a family gathering or a romantic weekend away…we are looking forward to hosting you! We custom built our home in 2003 and built the Studio apartment over our garage slowly, 2017-2020. We designed an upscale studio apartment with a large kitchenette thinking that we would Air BnB the space and then maybe downsize into it when we retire! Our Studio has floor- to-ceiling windows with beautiful views of the stone wall, garden and woods behind our home. We went Scandinavian with the design including hardwood maple floors, custom cabinets, IKEA furniture, indirect lighting, black-out blinds and a remote-controlled mini-split for heating, cooling and dehumidified comfort. The bathroom has a heated tile floor and walk-in shower with a built-in seat and two shower heads (one regular and one hand-held.) PLEASE NOTE: The bathroom has no door, just a privacy curtain. PARKING: We have just ONE parking spot in the driveway for guests. If your traveling companion also has a car, they will need to park on the street. However, this can be problematic in the winter because, during a snowfall, the town has a “parking ban” so no cars are allowed to park on the street (to allow the plows to get through!) So please plan to bring only one car during the snowy months Dec-March. To get to The Studio, follow the paved pathway around the garage (to your left) and take the stairs up onto the back deck. Use your door code to unlock the garage door off the deck. Turn right and you’ll see your private entrance door into the stairwell which takes you up into The Studio! Guests have access to our deck behind the garage which is lovely for sipping your morning coffee! As the deck is also our access to the yard from our kitchen, this is shared space. Guests are welcome to sit in the backyard where there is seating around a fire pit. If we have a fire going, please join us!! When you are in the yard, you may see our tenants, Brendon & Amanda, because they access their basement apartment through the back yard. There’s an opening at the end of the stone wall which looks like a path into the woods, but don’t go; it’s not our property back there (and it’s a terrible place to walk!) Please stay out of the garden shed which looks like an adorable playhouse.... but mostly it stores our lawn mower and other garden tools! If you want to climb the ladder into the play structure, it’s a nice place to read or meditate but, to respect our neighbors, it needs to be a quiet activity and you need to take a beach towel or something to sit on to avoid splinters. We are a Unitarian Universalist, progressive couple…so whatever your nationality, race, religion, orientation, gender or preferred pronouns, this is a safe space for you! My husband, Steve, teaches school during the day and teaches college in the evening. In the summer, he works as a handyman (which comes in very “handy” if anything needs to be fixed around the house!) I work for an auto parts store as a delivery driver, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9-5. You are welcome to text me with any questions and I should be able to answer them in minutes or at least within a half hour. Steve and I are happy to help you with anything you need during your stay!! After 27 years here, I am an excellent source of information about things to do in the area and can help with selecting just the right restaurant in Milford for whatever your are craving...fresh roasted coffee (espresso drinks!), pasta, pizza, burgers, seafood (lobster!), Greek, Mexican or upscale farm-to-table. A 30-something professional couple rents our basement. They access the basement via their own door from the back yard. We rarely hear them or see them. Sometimes we see them in the driveway if they arrive home from work at the same time we do. Twice a day they accompany their 2 small dogs for a 3 min "potty break" in the yard. They are very responsible about cleaning up all dog waste. Lilo tends to bark at people she doesn't know but she’s harmless. Evie is chill and doesn't bark. Also, my 22-year old son has a fluffy white dog named Izzy…and they come home during college breaks. She barks occasionally…but it’s downstairs so not loud in the Studio. When outside, Izzy is always on a leash
