Tioga Hideout is a vintage lil' cabin on Lake Pokegama. This is a place for connecting with nature, taking in dark skies, exploring woods and islands, and rejuvenating in the barrel sauna. The clear water is great for swimming and you're sure to hear the loons and other wildlife. Tioga Rec Area is in the backyard and offers MTB, fat biking, hiking, and snowshoeing. The property looks over Sugar Bay with lovely southern views. Our neighbors are seasonal, so it feels extra secluded in the fall! This cozy (that's polite for small) cabin is a tribute to days gone by when the cabin was just a place to keep your duffle and the real fun was on the dock, around the fire pit, and cooling off in the lake. We've added some modern comforts (we even caved and bought a TV), but you still get that rustic experience of getting back to the basics that has captured the hearts of travelers for generations. CABIN The large windows have exceptional lake views and let in natural light all day long. The kitchen is fully stocked. There is indoor and outdoor dining space. The cabin sleeps 4 people in two bedrooms and the boathouse offers additional sleeping space. The cabin is heated and open through December, and the boathouse is not heated and is usable through October. PROPERTY The property is very quiet and tucked away on a dead-end road with forest along the entire north side (home to the Tioga MTB trails). The nearest trail access is just a minute ride from your doorstep. South facing views from the elevated property look out onto Pokegama's largest bay and you can catch sunrises and sunsets from the shoreline. Other outdoor amenities include firepits near the patio and at the lake, Adirondacks, a gas grill, driveway to the lake for unloading boats, and secure storage for gear. There are seasonal neighbors on both sides, but most guests say that they have plenty of privacy. LAKEFRONT There is a short flight of stairs down to the lake as. We have a dock with a pontoon to rent (or space to park your own boat). The lake is clear and clean with a sandy shoreline and views that stretch for miles. Enjoy both the sunrises and sunsets over beautiful Sugar Bay. SAUNA The 4 person cedar barrel sauna is wood fired. Firewood is included. We live nearby and are available if needed. Immediately adjacent to Tioga Recreation Area- 400 yards to trail access and 1/2 mile to trailhead. 1 mile to Tioga Beach and boat launch. 10 minutes to food, drink, and shops in downtown Grand Rapids and Cohasset. We require all guests to sign our rental agreement, which will be sent out after making a reservation. You may request it in advance if you prefer. Pet Policy ⇸ Please include your pet on your reservation so the pet fee is automatically added. ⇸ You are responsible for your dog while they are off-leash. ⇸ Bring towels for wet paws and fur. ⇸ Clean up after your dog outdoors. Our pet fee helps us remain pet friendly, however, it does not cover pet damage. Please be mindful of this if you have a heavily shedding breed, let your dog on furniture, or leave your dog uncrated while you're away.
