Columbia Road Cottage

A cozy, considered home away from home in the heart of East London's most vibrant community. The space Columbia Road Cottage is a charming terraced home tucked just behind the iconic Columbia Road and overlooking the tree-filled oasis of Jesus Green. Recently renovated, the house has been lovingly restored by me (Lucy - an interior designer) to honour its Victorian heritage. It’s a curated, peaceful and intimate space, full of character, texture, light and a gentle sense of movement. The ground floor offers a modern, pared-back take on a quintessential East London cottage: a social open-plan layout with underfloor heating, large skylights, pitched ceilings, and full-width Crittall doors that open from the kitchen onto a private patio. An upright piano and guitar sit in the living area for guests to enjoy. Upstairs, a small family bathroom features a standalone roll-top bath and double-height panelled walls. The master bedroom looks out to the treetops of Jesus Green and is bathed in morning light. The second bedroom, with its double windows, is my weekday office - complete with a large desk and a daybed that folds out into a king-size bed. We’re intentional about everything we bring into our home: bamboo-silk pillows, linen bedsheets, quality olive oils, and natural, chemical-free cleaning and personal care products. The kitchen sink also supplies filtered water straight from the tap. Guest access One small upstairs room is locked for storage purposes. In the master bedroom, the top two drawers have been cleared for you and the rest remain full / to be kept closed please. I have cleared 2 x shelves in the fridge for you, and kept my bits in the pull out drawer at the bottom. You can find ice in the top drawer of the freezer and I have cleared another drawer below that for you should you need. In the bathroom I have cleared the vanity unit under the sink for use whilst staying. Other things to note We look forward to welcoming you with fresh bread and milk + invite you to use the pantry and bathroom basics which will be clearly set out for you. Each guest will have 2 towels laid out in their bedroom. Please note this is a TV free home by choice. The bedrooms have fluid sheers for privacy but are not blackout. Temper eye masks are provided. We have a beautifully curated collection of wooden toys we would be happy to leave out for you should you have little ones in tow. Please also note this is a bath only house and showers are currently not an option. We leave bath salts and bubbles to aid unwind. This is a respectful, residential area and tight community so I please request no parties. If you're travelling by car I can arrange parking permits for you from 3.50 each. Thank you.
