The space Located in Australia's oldest surviving gold town, Sofala, you'll be staying in the former Gold Commissioners' office, built in 1851 - making the heritage home over 170 years old. In our kitchen, you'll find a 'secret' door that used to connect directly to the bank of NSW - the Gold Commissioner would issue out licenses to the miners and pass through the day’s collection of gold through the door to the bank, avoiding the bush rangers on the bustling and chaotic streets of Sofala circa 1851. You'll feel right at home with two spacious bedrooms downstairs, a welcoming dining, kitchen and living area equipped with a fireplace, wifi, smart TV, lots of games in a cosy, relaxed environment, full of local artworks of the town. Upstairs you'll find two single beds, with an adjoining kids room that sleeps two children under the age of 10. So along with the 5 adults, the house can also sleep 2 small children, making that seven guests in total. The heritage listed home has all original wallpaper and a unique hardwood roof milled locally in the 1850s. Get creative in the art studio, and help yourself to the veggie and herb garden, in summer time, enjoy the peaches, plums, strawberries and grapes and in winter enjoy the walnut tree, spinach and garlic plants that will pop up around the property. Also on the property is our bakery, built 1852 that was formally used to feed the majority of the town's miners. The original oven still works so feel free to make pizzas, bread or leave a stew boiling for the day while you explore the historic town and venture down to the Turon River across the road.
