Peacefully situated on the edge of a pretty Devon Village, Coombe Valley Shepherd's hut is in its own garden with an outside roll top bath & inside shower room. A nature lovers paradise, it is 10 mins walk to the estuary (sailing, rowing & SUP) and 2 lovely pubs. 10 mins drive to the seaside village of Shaldon with sandy beaches, restaurants and cafes and to Maidencombe cove with its red cliffs and cafe. Supermarkets and stations in Newton Abbot and Teignmouth and Dartmoor is half an hour away. The space Our well equipped Shepherd's is small but perfectly formed! The shaker style kitchen has a microwave, toaster, kettle, induction hob and a fridge with ice box as well as all the pans, utensils and stylish crockery that you would expect. In a separate room there is a shower and toilet on mains drainage and you can take a bubble bath under the stars in the outside bath with hot water on tap. The super comfy bed has a luxury pocket sprung mattress and is raised up with a spacious area below to tuck away suitcases, shoes etc. The bistro table and chairs fold away if you would like a little more space. The hut is heated with a wall mounted convection electric heater - turn it on and it is toasty in minutes. There is also a built in bluetooth sound system so you can play your favourite music and there is even an atmospheric light bar so you can adjust the lighting. The stream bordered private garden area outside boasts a barbecue, a fire pit, a picnic table, a cast iron bath and a couple of adirondack chairs for you to kick back and soak in the country views across the pretty garden, to the marsh and the rolling hills beyond. Regular visitors include woodpeckers, deer, egrets, buzzards and even the odd kingfisher has been known to stop by. There are lanterns on the side of the hut and atmospheric solar lighting. The hut has its own parking space up a gentle slope. There are two pub/restaurants within a 10 minute walk of the property - the riverside Coombe Cellars offers spectacular views while the historic Wild Goose Inn offers real ale, a cosy beamed interior and a pretty pub garden. The Woodshed Coffee bar is also just 10 minutes walk overlooking the estuary. Our property is newly listed on Airbnb but has been with Sykes for some time where we have outstanding reviews. Guest access Our guests have their own private garden area, but you are welcome to wander into our large, well stocked stream bordered gardens. This space is shared with just the two of us and occasionally our visiting family. Lie in the hammock by the stream under the horse chestnut tree or feel free to borrow the croquet set and play on the croquet lawn. We have two free range chickens. We love animals and welcome small dogs (we put the chickens in their run if your dog likes to chase them!). Other things to note We make up the beds each time with fresh bed linen and provide towels. We will always make sure there is a pint of milk in the fridge and tea and coffee, water and juices. We also include one bag of charcoal and kindling and some logs in the rental price. We have our own Canadian canoe and two person kayak which you are welcome to borrow if you have roof bars. Please note you will need to bring your own life jackets and this activity is at your own risk, but it is the perfect way to explore the nearby Teign estuary or coves along the coast. Guests are also welcome to borrow the croquet set and play croquet on the lawn. Please note we do not have a traditional hot tub but we have an outside roll top bath with hot water on tap.
