Mountain Cottage with hot tub/Lake Toxaway area
WE ARE OPEN! Water/electric and WIFI! Welcome to Hemlock Hollow. Our magical little cottage nestled in the trees high in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Come to disconnect in this peaceful, quiet, soul-resting cottage sanctuary. The space Enter through the front door to the upper-level open floor plan, with a cozy living room area, dining, eat-at counter, and kitchen. Includes a 1/2 bath. VEHICLES: We do not allow more than two cars or suvs. NO TRAILERS OR LARGE DELIVERY VANS OR TRUCKS. The road into our neighborhood and home is a narrow, steep, and sharply winding road. We will not be held responsible for your inability to navigate oversized vehicles or trailers into our community. You can go to the lower level via a spiral staircase to the King Bedroom, Queen Bedroom, an extra twin, and a full bath. The lower level also has a full-sized washer and dryer. A spacious deck that overlooks the forest is great for morning coffee surrounded by nature. This little house has an interesting backstory. Built in the 1980s, the builder used plans and ideas from his daughter's high school science project. Using a vent system on the upper and lower level exterior walls, circulating airflow eliminates the need for air conditioning. You will see these vents with little doors you can open. It only works, though, when all vents are open. Please remember to close and lock them if you end up giving it a try. Guest access Guest will have access to all areas except a storage closet in the King bedroom. Other things to note ACCESSIBILITY Please be mindful of the spiral staircase. This can feel awkward to anyone with mobility issues. THE GREATER AREA Our cottage is centrally located to some of the best Western North Carolina has to offer: 17 mins to Headwaters Outfitters and closest access to the Blue Ridge Parkway Entrance 20 min to Sapphire 28 Mins to Brevard 29 mins to Cashiers 47 min to Highlands 57 min to Sylva 1 hr to Asheville Airport/Arden area shopping 1 hr 14 min to Franklin 1 hr 16 min to Cherokee AIR CONDITIONING Due to its elevation, the cottage is not air-conditioned at this time. Built in the 1980s, the original builder used plans and ideas from his daughter's high school science project. A manual vent system on the upper and lower level exterior walls circulates airflow, eliminating the need for air conditioning. You will see these vents with little doors you can open. It only works, though, when all vents are open. Please remember to close and lock them if you end up giving it a try. MOUNTAIN LIFE: In general, living in the mountains is a peaceful and serene experience. It’s secluded and out of the way of everyday traffic. However, we also experience more inconveniences than that of city dwellers. Please be aware: VEHICLES: We do not allow more than two personal vehicles. NO TRAILERS OR LARGE DELIVERY VANS OR TRUCKS. The road into our neighborhood and home is a narrow, steep and sharply winding road. We will not be held responsible for your inability to navigate oversized vehicles or trailers into our community. IT'S A FOREST Our cottage is treated for pests, but understand you are in the woods. The occasional spider or stink bug may be present, and we do not consider them an infestation or an indication that our home is "dirty". TOWELS: we provide four bath towels, four washcloths, four hand towels, one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, one roll of paper towels per bathroom, and 1 roll of paper towels in the kitchen along with dish towels. We also provide a washer and dryer. If you think you’ll need more, please consider bringing some extras. WIFI: We now have a fiber-optic line that has improved our internet outages, but it is still subject to go out. POWER OUTAGES: Power outages are common in the mountains. We often embrace the outage as a way to disconnect and be more present in the moment fully! TRASH: Our cleaning service does not include trash removal, and we cannot have unsavory garbage sitting in the house or left outside, attracting bears and critters. Formal trash pickup isn’t available in our area. Please take your garbage with you. If you decide to book, we provide details on local facilities where you can take your garbage. Any garbage left at the home will be an extra charge billed back to you.
