Set on a working dairy farm alongside over 200 cows you are surrounded by glorious countryside with amazing opportunities for walkers, cyclists and climbers. What makes this a breathtaking retreat is the far-reaching panoramic views from the garden and hot tub. The cottage is light and bright with two nature inspired bedrooms and a spacious sitting room with a wood burning stove to cuddle up in front of. The space Just on the edge of the Wye Valley, Wallhope Retreat is a break away from the real world. The cottage sits overlooking fields of cattle, to the River Severn and Old Severn Bridge, further beyond to see planes coming into Bristol airport and through to the Mendip Hills right in the distance. It is a private bolthole from where you can start your countryside adventures. This rural cottage is ideal for couples looking for a romantic weekend away, groups of friends who want to take full advantage of the surroundings or families with children who would love to stay on a farm. Having been thoughtfully renovated, the love the owner's have put into it is clear. The sitting/dining room is a welcoming and comfortable room to dine in or relax in front of the wood burning stove. Open the window and let the outdoors in to really enjoy this refreshing location. The well-equipped kitchen is to the rear of the cottage and has a breakfast bar for a quick morning meal. Upstairs you are reminded of where you are with wildlife themed décor and large windows, so you never miss out on the view. Slipping into the hot tub in the front garden at the end of the day you will never want to leave. This is a dreamscape for anybody feeling the draw of an authentic country retreat. With Chepstow and it's castle and racecourse less than 10-minutes' drive, Lydney and Puzzlewood in the Forest of Dean 15 minutes and the Severn Bridge giving you access to Bristol and Bath you get the perfect combination of rural seclusion and exciting days out. Ground Floor Kitchen: This country chic kitchen combines modern grey units and fresh white worktops with wooden stools and industrial style lighting. It is perfectly sized for four guests with an oven and hob, microwave, kettle, fridge/freezer and breakfast bar area. A door opens out to a rear patio where there is a bistro set giving you space to sit while waiting for dinner to finish cooking. Cloakroom: From the kitchen is a handy cloakroom with a WC and sink. Sitting Room/Dining Room: The high ceilings in this room and arched window looking out to the front garden and spectacular views beyond make it bright and spacious. The sitting area in front of the wood burning stove has a two-seater sofa, cuddle chair and an armchair, perfect for curling up after long walks in the country. The dining table sits under a statement light and is a lovely spot to serve evening meals together. Utility: The utility is hidden away by the dining area and is a very useful space for doing the laundry and it provides some extra storage space. You will find a washing machine and sink, and the ironing facilities are stored here. First Floor Bedroom One: The master bedroom is airy and spacious with a king-size bed which faces a large window looking across to the Severn Bridge and the river. Waking up here and opening the blinds is a real treat as you are staying in the heart of beautiful farmland. The soft furnishings are inspired by the clover, fields of lush grass and surrounding flora that you can see in this area. A chest of drawers, bedside table and a dressing table furnish this room. En-Suite: The modern and monochrome en-suite to bedroom one gives this room some additional privacy if you are staying with friends. A walk-in shower, WC and sink in white with contrasting black details give this room a professional finish. Bathroom: Fantastic wallpaper makes the family bathroom an unexpected statement in this cottage. With elements of the farm reflected in the design you will see pheasants, crickets, bridges and lots of greenery. A freestanding bath sits in the centre of the room giving you a spa-like experience as you soak tired walking legs. Bedroom Two: This second bedroom has twin beds which can be a super king-size double on request. At the back of the house, this room has a view out onto the field behind the cottage. This room has also taken inspiration from the history of the farm, hares leap on the curtains and they used to be seen around the farm in the owner's childhood. You have a chest of drawers and bedside tables along with an armchair to read a book before settling to sleep. Outside The garden serves as your own private viewpoint of the spectacular outlook from Wallhope Retreat. With a corner sofa and table, you will adore having your morning coffee here while the birds swoop above you, bees visit the lavender, and the tractors get to work in the fields. Sitting in the hot tub at the bottom of the garden you feel hidden away with only the sounds of country farm life to keep you company. There is a small lawned area, a gravel pathway and colourful hanging baskets and planted borders. You are given complete privacy to really soak in this rural retreat. To the rear is a small paved area with a bistro set. Off-road parking is provided for up to four cars. Bike storage is available by prior arrangement. Guest access Guests have full access to the house and garden. Other things to note • Book with us to get exclusive discounts to top attractions and experiences. • 1 well-behaved dog is welcome for an additional fee of £45 per dog. This fee is not included in the rental price. Please advise us at the time of booking if you are bringing a dog and you will be sent a request for the additional fee. Please note the owner has two dogs, Dave and Jessie. They do not have access to Wallhope Retreat but you may meet them along the farm road. • Please make yourself aware of the hot tub rules and hours of use. An additional fee of £75 applies and it must be requested at the time of booking. • Wallhope Retreat is set on a working farm. At certain times of the year there is more activity than others such as in Spring when the cows will be calving and must be attended to whenever required. • Bike storage is available at your own risk, please contact the owners to arrange this. E-bikes may not be stored in the property. • Wallhope Retreat accepts a maximum of 1 infant. • Please note, if you would like bedroom two arranged as a super-king, please contact us directly 7 days before arrival.
