Description
Indigo is a spacious and serene room, created for those who choose San Cristóbal as a temporary home. Here, time feels different—there is calm, art, and space to truly settle in and feel at ease. The full bathroom is located just outside the room. The room Indigo is part of Casa Nazimova, an artistic house with several unique rooms, each with its own atmosphere. If this space is not available, we invite you to explore our other rooms within the same house. The space Casa Nazimova is a unique space located in the picturesque La Merced neighborhood of San Cristóbal de las Casas, with views of the mountains and the city horizon. Thoughtfully designed for creatives, researchers, exchange students, and lovers of art and culture, it is an ideal place for medium- and long-term stays. We offer 10% off weekly bookings and up to 40% off monthly stays. The house blends design, art, and cinema into a carefully curated and distinctive atmosphere. Inspired by Art Deco, Pop Art, and Mexican Muralism, it features an extensive collection of books, vinyl records, and hundreds of independent films, woven together with art pieces, unique objects, and a living presence of plants throughout the space. Guests can unwind on our glass-enclosed terrace, perfect at any time of day. Casa Nazimova is located in a quiet yet central area, just behind the Amber Museum and the Calvario and La Merced churches, close to local shops and fruit markets, and only a 15-minute walk from a large supermarket. Inspired by the iconic actress, producer, and visionary Alla Nazimova, the house pays tribute to her transgressive, artistic, and avant-garde spirit. Casa Nazimova is a place that celebrates art, creativity, and freedom of expression—designed to inspire and welcome those seeking more than just a place to sleep. Guest access The room is located on the second floor, surrounded by a carefully curated selection of lithographs, engravings, and drawings by Mexican muralists—pieces you won’t find anywhere else in Mexico. This level also features a cozy fireplace area, perfect for sitting, reading, or simply unwinding. The glass-enclosed terrace is an inviting space to relax at any time of day or enjoy a quiet dinner, sheltered by glass ceilings and walls. For an even more memorable experience, guests can walk up to the rooftop, where mornings are ideal for soaking in the sun and evenings offer beautiful sunset views over San Cristóbal de las Casas. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the terrace at the small round tables, or in the spacious kitchen on the first floor, fully equipped and comfortable. As you walk through the second-floor corridors toward your bathroom, you’ll pass by the fireplace—an especially peaceful spot at night, when the nearby window frames the city lights. The first floor also includes a laundry area with a new washing machine for guest use, as well as a fresh and spacious living room, ideal for reading or spending quiet time surrounded by art books. During your stay My parents (Edi and Chelo) will be delighted to welcome you and provide their assistance whenever you need it. Many of our guests feel like part of the family, and they adapt to your preferences regarding the type of interaction you’d like during your stay. At check-in, if you wish, I will personally share a list of my favorite recommendations to enjoy the city: places to grab a coffee, try delicious pastries, enjoy a dinner, take tours, explore, or connect with nature. Other things to note A one-time cleaning fee is applied to all stays to ensure the space is spotless for every guest.
