Welcome to our 14 acre Farmette in cozy Yellow Springs Ohio! We keep chickens, ducks, quail, bees. Our house offers the peace of being in the country but while also being a short 3 minute drive into downtown Yellow Springs. Our building is divided into two living spaces. We are on one side and this apartment is on the other. Please know that the apartment is on the second floor accessible by 13 stairs. A few noise disclaimers, we do have roosters that crow in the mornings and hens that can occasionally be heard making their "egg song” throughout the day. Also, the apartments are separated by a stairwell, pantry, and entry area on our side all of which have doors and this significantly reduces sound transfer BUT we do have children that can sometimes be heard through the walls. We also stock ear plugs in case you want to sleep in the and rooster noises bother you. We have a little bistro set in front of the apartment for you to enjoy some patio time and there's a wonderful stretch in front of the home you can use to walk. There's a coffee bar for you with tea and coffee. A note on allergies: We are a household of dustmite and perfume allergy sufferers. As a result ALL bed linens are washed between guests (yes even comforters and coverlets!!) and all mattress and pillows have wet/dust mite protectors on them. We use a HEPA filtered vacuum between guests and dust every surface. And most of our soaps and shampoos are unscented and are for sensitive skin. If possible we ask that perfumes and colognes be applied outside of the living space, thanks! All of apartment A is yours along with the bistro set by the front door. The yard space in front building is also available for you to enjoy. Any interaction with the farm animals will need to be guided by the host and planned ahead of time. Jess has roots in Yellow Springs and in 2021 we were able to realize our life long dream of living on a farm. We are so excited to share this space and experience with you. If you’re interested we offer short farm tours. Past guests have met baby calves, broody hens, and given our ducks and chickens snacks as well as collected eggs. Our farm is a work in progress, but we’re happy to share our successes with you. And as always, we’re right next door and happy to answer any questions you might have. Our farm is surrounded by other fields. We love to bike into town, it's about a 7 minute ride. We have ample parking in front of our home. We work really hard at making sure our guests are comfortable and we improve the apartment at every chance we get. We just swapped out our double bed for a brand new queen mattress and frame, and we’ve added a bunch of things suggested from past guests. We appreciate feedback so much, and love to help out if something’s gone awry (like batteries needing ti be replaced). We’re not joking when we say reach out, we’re right next door and happy to help make your stay perfect. If we’ve missed something please let us know! Our hosting ethos is this: while you’re here you’re our guest. We work hard to be good hosts. We clean the space ourselves so we don’t have to pass along the cost of a cleaner and also to make sure the space is pristine and up to our standards. With that, we expect the apartment to be left in tidy order. We don’t want you scrubbing the place down or doing the laundry or taking out the trash (those tasks are on us). But please make sure the kitchen is clean and start the dishwasher (no worries if you need that last cup of coffee before your 5am flight, I’ve got cleanup covered for you on that). We think that while you’re staying, for however long, you shouldn’t have to buy toilet paper or paper towels or laundry or dish soaps. We kept all of that well stocked. Also, we keep cleaning supplies on hand for you to utilize. There’s even a robot vac to keep the floors tidy with minimal input from you (poor thing has trouble with the tassels in the master bedroom).
