Please ask about our newest home that sleeps up to 28. Amazing property in a very private estate setting on 5.5 acres, yet near one of Maine's prettiest beaches and close to downtown Portland! Perfect for family reunions, corporate retreats, bachelor and bachelorette groups, small weddings, rehearsal dinners, day after wedding brunches and other events. This beautifully renovated house in the popular and walkable Willard Beach was stripped down to the studs for a full-scale renovation with a brand new second floor added. Beautifully designed and completely renovated by a well-known and highly respected designer, the house retains it's original early 1900s bungalow charm, but is updated for today's open-concept and luxurious living. Gorgeous details abound in this 4-5 bedroom 2 Bath house, with two brand new bathrooms, a brand new kitchen and even a brand new second story, all completed in August, 2016. PLEASE NOTE that there have been improvements to this house over the past 2 years as follows: 3 mini splits/heat pumps added for a/c in the master bedroom, large upstairs bedroom and open main level. Window a/c units in other bedrooms. This home has a brand new gas fireplace, 2 new on-demand hot water heaters (one for back-up), a brand new stove, a brand new dishwasher (all added in 2021) and a new radon mitigation system. To cap off all of the improvements, we added a large brand new deck this summer, as shown in the photos. The house is perfect for multi-generations families or couples traveling together. The home features an open floor plan on the first floor with very tall ceilings for a very spacious feeling. Home features a spacious and sunny open living room and an additional living room space adjacent to and open to the living room. This all opens up to a sunny and spacious dining room that will seat 12+ with a gorgeous and long farmhouse table. The dining room then opens to the kitchen. Also included near the front entry is a bright and sunny private den with a 28" flatscreen. This room can be converted into an additional sleeping room, with the privacy of a french door to close it off and a brand new double-bed Serta Sleeper Sofa, made very comfortable with the addition of a thick memory foam pad and thick mattress topper on top of that. The large living room features two comfy sofas and two oversized chairs, all surrounding the fireplace for gathering and conversation. a 50" Samsung Smart TV can be viewed from the living room and the adjacent sitting room. Main floor has a heat pump/mini split for air conditioning, as do both upstairs bedrooms. Downstairs bedrooms have window a/c units. There is an area behind the front sofa that is loaded with amazing kid's toys. Keep the little ones entertained with an adorable wooden kitchen, with tons of kid's dishes, pots and pans and utensils. There is also a kid's wooden grocery store, stocked with a produce stand, a scanner and register and lots of food! You will also find a kid's weber grill with food to grill and a table and chairs, set with mini "china and silver". The upstairs bedroom also features two mini kids' rooms, both with rugs and one with a table and chairs, set for tea service and the other with a large wooden train set. There are also two bedrooms on the first floor, one with a QUEEN sized bed, dressed in Serena and Lily linens, and the other with a Double bed. Between the two bedrooms is a beautiful brand new full bathroom with a tub and tiled shower and features convenient storage/shelving, white beadboard and Carrera marble tile floors. Plenty of oversized and super-fluffy bath sheets provided. Both bedrooms have window a/c units. The new DREAM kitchen features gorgeous quartz countertops with a beautiful kitchen island made of antique wood, reclaimed from the attic renovation. The kitchen also features a spacious pantry with an antique glass-panelled door, the original antique farmhouse sink from the 1920s and open shelves made of reclaimed wood with black wrought-iron brackets. The chef's kitchen is fully appointed and outfitted with plenty of dishes, glassware, and silverware and features an abundance of pots pans, bakeware, a microwave, a Ninja blender, a large pancake griddle, waffle-maker, crock pot, a lobster pot, 2 coffee makers, a toaster and every small appliance your would expect in a very well-appointed kitchen. It is perfectly set up for entertaining. The all-new 2nd floor features two large bedrooms, a spacious sleeping loft and a huge spa bathroom. The oversized bathroom features a long and deep soaking tub, a glass wall shower and a feature wall made of antique wood, reclaimed from the attic buildout. The gorgeous master bedroom features a king-sized wrought-iron bed, dressed in gorgeous linens and throw pillows from Pottery Barn with 100% Egyptian Cotton Percale Sheets, a 40" flatscreen tv, two dressers, and a large, lighted closet with barn doors on casters, made from wood reclaimed from the original attic rafters. There is a mini split/heat pump for a/c. The other bedroom is bright and sunny and spacious and features a queen bed, two twin beds and twin air mattresses and pack 'n play, all available upon request, with advanced notice. There is a mini split/heat pump for a/c. There is also a sleeping loft upstairs that features two twin beds, dressed in beautiful nautical bedding from Restoration Hardware. Beds can be rearranged to suit your needs. The outdoor living space is absolutely stunning, with the professionally landscaped grounds and gardens and multiple yard areas. The back deck features a glass table and comfy chairs for 4 guests and a large gas grill and off the deck is a lounge area on a huge stone patio with very comfortable lounge seating to accommodate up to 14 guests with a large propane-fueled fire pit plus two coffee tables and two side tables for casual dining. Home also features a one-car garage and plenty of private parking, with the long driveway that ends with three points for parking five-six additional cars. 3.5 block walk to beautiful Willard Beach, 4-block walk to Willard Square, home of the famous Scratch Baking Company, ranked as a "top 10 bread bakery in the US" and featured in Bon Appetit, the New York Times and The Food Network. Scratch Baking is famous for it's incredibly addicting sourdough bagels but also feature a multitude of artisanal breads, incredible breakfast pastries, absolutely delicious grommet desserts by the slice/piece, a fantastic gourmet coffee bar, slab pizza (by the slice) lunch sandwiches and salads made to order, and wines, other drinks and much, much more. Scratch's Toast Bar is also 4 blocks from the house in the opposite direction. FREE WIFI This is a private single-family home with privacy on three sides and private from the homes across the street, due to the elevated nature of the lot. Guests are welcome to use any and all areas of the home and yard. Please note that this home is in a quiet residential neighborhood. Quiet hours outdoors begin at 10 pm. Please note that people sleep with their windows open into the late fall in Maine and the sound does travel. Please respect our neighbors and keep all activity indoors past 10 pm. I live down the street and meet my guests in person upon arrival. I am always available to help guests in any way that I can. Only 6 minutes to downtown Portland, just named by Thrillist as "The #1 City in the country to spend the weekend" and "The most underrated food city in the US" plus "The Best Drinking City:, It was also rated by Bon Appetit as "2018 Restaurant City of the Year" after awarding it 10 years ago as "The Foodiest Small City in the Country". Willard Beach was just named the 2nd prettiest beach in Maine. The Willard Beach neighborhood is the hottest neighborhood in the entire greater Portland area. Everyone wants to live there and vacation there, with it's incredible walkability being the primary selling point of the neighborhood. From this house, you can drive to Downtown Portland in 6-7 minutes, walk to Willard Beach in less than 5 minutes (3-4 blocks away!) and also walk to the shops at Willard Square (around 5 minutes), featuring Nationally award-winning Scratch Baking Co, Willard Scoops Ice Cream Shoppe, and Flip Creperie. 4 blocks in the other direction, you will find Scratch Baking's new Toast Bar, where you can sit on the fantastic outdoor patio (or inside) and order breakfast and lunch and coffees from their outstanding coffee bar. Also nearby are the Spring Point Lighthouse, Bug Light park, the SMCC campus, and the ever popular 158 Picket Street Cafe, owned and operated by some of the original owners of Scratch Baking (the parternship split a few years ago) and featuring delicious breakfasts and lunch in a cozy setting, with a charming outdoor patio in back. There are several very good restaurants, all within a 10-15 minute walk of the house, including Ellsmere BBQ, Thai Taste (good Thai food), David's 388, Terra Cotta Pasta--a great carryout Italian shop with really good prepared foods to go, Rosemont Markets (a fantastic and extremely popular locally-owned market with 6 locations in the greater Portland area) and a nationally award-winning pizza place, Otto's Pizza, just a short (1-2 minute) drive away. The new 43* North restaurant and Saltwater Grille, both with huge and gorgeous oceanfront decks, are a short 5-minute drive away. Beautiful Cape Elizabeth is also just a short walk away, with access to even more beautiful beaches, plus Fort Williams and the Portland Headlight, the most photographed lighthouse in the US. Walk to the lighthouse within 30 minutes of the house. The home is very close to downtown Portland and takes approx. 6-7 minutes, depending on traffic, to reach downtown. Very inexpensive ($6-$8 Uber ride). The neighborhood is known for it's walkability and you can reach great restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops, all within a 10-15 minute walk. Please note that there is a mandatory $99 damage insurance policy for all reservations. This is purchased separately on your credit card and covers all accidental damage, not due to tenant negligence or neglect up to $5000 in value. This policy protects your refundable deposit.
