QUIET TIME IS 10pm, whether you’re inside or outside. We’ve unfortunately had incidents in the past so we appreciate your understanding 🙏 YOU MUST BE SELF-SUFFICIENT - We are not on-site to assist you. This is a rural, remote cabin you will have to yourself. If the power goes out, there is also no running water (we are on septic) and you must flush the toilet with buckets from the creek. Has only ever gone out for several hours in the past, but please be aware of this possibility. 🚿 HOT WATER: This is a rural cabin supplied by one hot water tank. Please be mindful of your use and space it out (eg: showers at different times, do not run dishwasher then immediately have shower, etc.). The tank takes 30-40 min to reheat NOISE: There is a neighbouring property, so while the space is private, you must be respectful of the neighbour in terms of noise (ie. strictly NO parties, drinking games, extra guests, no outdoor noise past 10pm, please take things inside at 11pm, and try not to play music outside) Guest access The entire lodge will be yours during your stay. It is accessible via a digital smart lock. We are an AirBnB message or phone call away should you need anything :) NOTE: There are neighbouring properties, so while the space is private, you must be respectful of the neighbour in terms of noise (ie. strictly NO parties, no yelling, no drinking games, no extra guests allowed on the property, QUIET TIME IS 10pm, no hot tub or fire pit use past 11pm) Other things to note HOT TUB & FIRE PIT - Not to be used past 11pm out of respect for our neighbours. EXPECT BUGS INSIDE - This is a remote wooden cabin. Unfortunately we cannot eliminate all bugs in the cabin. EXPECT HEAT in SUMMER - There is no AC, and lots of windows. Head to nearby French Beach to cool down! THIS IS BEAR COUNTRY - Please be bear-aware at all times. Do not leave any food or high odour items in your vehicle, or outside, at ANY time, close all vehicle windows/doors. BEARS FREQUENT THE PROPERTY, so we RECOMMEND YOU BRING BEAR SPRAY. THERE LIMITED CELL PHONE COVERAGE in the area (there IS wifi in the lodge) - Please be careful of roaming charges, and ensure you have directions to the lodge before heading out. 4x4 RECOMMENDED: The driveway is gravel and has a bit of a steep slope to start. We recommend good tires and 4x4 GROCERIES & GAS - There are no grocery stores or gas stations in the immediate area. The closest grocery store and gas station is in Sooke (20-25 min drive), so please ensure you grab all the food and supplies you need before arriving at The Lodge. HOT WATER - This is a rural cabin, supplied by one hot water tank. Please be mindful of your use (ie. space out showers, do not run dishwasher/laundry right before showering, etc.) POWER OUTAGES - In case of power outage, there will also be NO WATER. Do not try to use water or it won’t come back on once power is restored. You must flush the toilet using buckets with water from the creek during power outages. There is a landline telephone which operates for a few hours without power. STORMS - Storm-watching in the area is beautiful and mesmerizing, but sometimes causes road closures. Please ensure you have food/water/blankets in your vehicle on the way to the Lodge just in case. WELL WATER - The Lodge water is supplied by all-natural well water. It is safe to drink and full of natural minerals, but we also have a Brita filter you can use. SEPTIC SYSTEM - The Lodge is serviced by a septic system, so please do not put any solids down the sinks or toilets (eg: tampons, food scraps, coffee grinds, paper towels, oil, anything plastic, etc.) NEIGHBOURS - While the lodge is rural, there ARE neighbouring properties, so please no music or loud noise past 10pm, and please limit music outdoors at all times.
