Rusty's River Retreat - Riverfront log cabin
Experience this log cabin that was once a fishing shack now turned into a sweet mountain home on the Green River. You will be steps away from trout fishing in a river that is stocked six a year. With multiple-level porches, you will be able to relax and unwind as you enjoy the beautiful river and the wildlife that inhabits it. There is a large field on the side to enjoy time with the family during the day and a fire pit to relax by at night. This is a cozy one-room cabin with a sunroom. The kitchen, bedroom, and living space are all open concept with a queen bed and a queen pull-out sofa. In the sunroom, you will find a sitting area and a trundle bed. The trundle can be a twin bed, two twin beds, or when connected a full king bed. There is a generator so losing electricity is never an issue and with a tankless water heater, you will have all the hot water needed for your showers. You will be given a code to use for the keyless entry front door. We are available through the app and will assist in any way needed. Rusty's River Retreat is located on the banks of the Green River in Saluda, NC. This portion of the lower Green is in a gorge or cove, hence the name of our road: Green River Cove Road. There are several hiking trails down in the cove, and it is a popular spot for tubers, cyclists, kayakers, and fly fisherman. There are two ways to access the cabin in the cove: 1. Take the Saluda exit (59) and take Green River Cove road down its 17 switchbacks. Once you level out, the cabin is about a half mile down on the left. This route is quickest for those coming down 26 from Asheville. 2. Come thru Mill Spring via HWY 9 or 108, depending on your starting point. Then take Silver Creek Road to Green River Cove Road. The cabin will be about 6 miles down on the right. This route is convenient for anyone traveling up 26 from Greenville or on 74 thru Shelby from Charlotte. It is also better if you want to avoid the twisty/turny switchbacks, but it will add 20 or more minutes if you are coming from the Asheville side down 26. Saluda is a quaint town full of adventures for all guests. Visit the small town on Main Street to see talented artisans or enjoy a meal at the specialized restaurants. The area is full of beautiful hikes to take, and waterfalls to see, and the Gorge zipline is at the top of the mountain. During the warm months tubing and kayaking companies are available. Saluda is convenient to the towns of Hendersonville, Flat Rock, Tryon, and Asheville.
