The Dairy
Description
This memorable place is anything but ordinary. Decommissioned in 1965, our family’s dairy barn still has a lot of life left in her! The home includes the original milking pit, which has been converted into a living room/extra sleeping space. The milk storage silo and transfer room has been converted to a kitchen/dining room that has everything you need for short or long term! Only 20 minutes from Huntsville and a short drive to Lake Livingston! More pics to come. Available 11/1. The space The barn has been converted to include modern features while keeping the original structure. There’s a kitchen with a dining table which seats 6. The living room is the old milking pit. It features a sunken in living room with couches and an ottoman as well as a bunk bed with a futon on bottom, which folds out into a full sized bed and a twin bed on top. The enclosed bedroom has a full sized bed and a washer/dryer combo and a couch which converts into a full sized bed. The bathroom entry is in the main bedroom and is roomy with a waterfall style shower head. The exterior features a panel fenced area, which surrounds 1/2 of the house-the bedroom and main door are in this side. The other side is enclosed by the fence to allow you to let your pets out and the kids play. There is a gas grill in the fenced area. The living room has a 50 inch TV in the bedroom has a 35 inch TV. Both are smart TVs, and connected to the Internet. Guest access The home sits on ample acreage, but it is occupied by cattle. Though the cows aren’t aggressive, they are protective of their babies! If they come towards you during your stay, they’re just looking for treats, not trouble. You’ll have access to the home as well as the surrounding acreage. We ask that you not drive on the property, except to park by the home. There’s a pond at the front of the property but it is not stocked. At most, it has crappie, but feel free to fish! Do keep in mind that this is a farm stay, you will hear (and sometimes see) random frogs, raccoons, armadillos, opossums, crickets, cicadas, cows, and occasional coyotes in the distance. Other things to note The gate to the property must remain closed when you’re not entering or exiting as it is a working cattle farm. The gate timer shuts automatically after one minute. If there’s any malfunction, contact us and we will get it resolved.
