Also within a short walking distance from the cottage are several other ice cream shops, another fantastic bakery, and some very good restaurants, including the locally-owned but nationally recognized Otto's Pizza, also featured on the Food Network and the winner of the national "Best Pizza out of the Box" award. This bedroom has a ceiling fan and a window A/C. The sunny living room with ocean views features a nautical-themed combination of creamy-white furniture, dressed with a beautiful array of navy and cream throw pillows, a unique designer coffee table made of a French antique basket on casters, a 40" samsung flatscreen and a Bose sound system. Adjacent and open to the living room is the sun room, with beautiful views of the ocean and the islands so close to the cottage. This room has a small dining table with two chairs from Maine Cottage and doubles as a delightful breakfast nook. The dining room features a gorgeous 92" long dining table made of reclaimed wood from Restoration Hardware with a rusted metal base and a reclaimed wooden top. Comfortable Pottery Barn chairs with cushions and throw pillows make for long and memorable dinners with family and friends. The gourmet kitchen features a new SS Bosch gas range and dishwasher and is very generously appointed with service for 18 dining and silverware service and service for 18 glassware, in addition to an abundance of new pots and pans, bakeware, casserole dishes and every small appliance you would expect in a generously appointed kitchen. A large stainless steel gas grill is just outside the kitchen on it's own small stone patio in the back yard. The stunningly beautiful English gardens and patios on this property are absolutely incredible and offer a delightful scent of flowers combined with the salty sea air. You will enjoy beautiful ocean views from the patio and memorable evenings and dinners outside, with a large patio set featuring very comfortable chairs. Patio also offers a propane fire pit to keep you toasty on cool Maine nights. We also provide 2 retro-style beach cruisers for exploring the delightful neighborhood, in addition to two kayaks, paddles and life vests for our guests to enjoy, as the water's edge is only 100 yards away. The entire house and outdoor patio area is available for our guests to enjoy in complete privacy, but not to the detriment of our neighbors, some of whom are elderly and go to bed early and others who wake up very early to go to work. From this house, you can drive to Downtown Portland in 7-8 minutes, walk to Willard Beach in less than 2 minute (150 yards away!) and also walk to the shops at Willard Square (around 5 minutes), featuring Nationally award-winning Scratch Baking Co, Willard Scoops Ice Cream Shoppe, and Flip Creperie. By September, Scratch Baking just added a new location, called The Toast Bar, where you can sit on the fantastic outdoor patio (or inside) and order made-to-order breakfast and lunch items and coffees from their outstanding coffee bar. Also nearby are the Spring Point Lighthouse, Bug Light park, the SMCC campus, and the ever popular 158 Picket Street Cafe, owned and operated by some of the original owners of Scratch Baking (the parternship split a few years ago) and featuring delicious breakfasts and lunch in a cozy setting, with a charming outdoor patio in back. There are several very good restaurants, all within a 10-15 minute walk of the house, including Ellsmere BBQ, Thai Taste (good Thai food), David's 388, Terra Cotta Pasta--a great carryout Italian shop with really good prepared foods to go, and a nationally award-winning pizza place, Otto's Pizza, just a short (1-2 minute) drive away. The new 43* North restaurant and Saltwater Grille, both with huge and gorgeous oceanfront decks, are a short 5-minute drive away. Beautiful Cape Elizabeth is also just a short walk away, with access to even more beautiful beaches, plus Fort Williams and the Portland Headlight, the most photographed lighthouse in the US. Walk to the lighthouse within 30 minutes of the house. The walkability of the neighborhood is fantastic and Uber rides into downtown Portland are just around $9 each way, which can be less expensive than downtown parking. There are so many fantastic places to see in the greater Portland area, however, that a car is recommended for those who love to explore. The home is very close to downtown Portland and takes approx. 6 minutes, depending on traffic, to reach downtown. Very inexpensive ($6-$8 Uber ride). The neighborhood is known for it's walkability and you can reach great restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops, all within a 10-minute walk.
