However, if you want to adventure further, our home is a perfect homebase from which to go surfing in Matapalo or explore Corcovado National Park, which is accessible from the nearby La Cotinga Biological Station entrance, which is just 20 min away. While you may find everything you need within our oasis, the nearby town of Puerto Jimenez is just a ten-minute drive away, offering restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, pharmacies, banks/ATMs, medical facilities, and a commercial airport. Our charming caretaker, Mario, and his wonderful family live year-round in a separate dwelling on the property. They are always ready to assist with anything you need, providing peace and privacy, and offering many guests cherished memories from their interactions. He lives on the property in his own house, a comfortable distance away from the casa grande and cabins. You will be tempted to never leave the property. However, if you want to adventure further, our home is a perfect homebase from which to go surfing in Matapalo or explore Corcovado National Park. Corcovado is accessible from the nearby La Cotinga Biological Station which is the eastern entrance (which is just 20 min away). A good alternative access point to Corcovado National Park, is the southern entrance at La Leona Ranger Station, which is a 1.9-mile (3-kilometer) hike from the town of Carate. Carate is approximately an hour drive from our property. A final via the San Pedrillo station, which is near Drake Bay. Easily accessible via a well-maintained road, Puerto Jimenez is only a short ten-minute drive away from the property. The town offers a wide range of amenities, including an airport, grocery stores, gas stations, medical clinics, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, banks, ATM's, and hardware stores. Additionally, it serves as a base for various fishing and tour operators. BY AIR: Reaching our property is convenient and effortless with various transportation options available. You can opt for daily flights operated by Sansa and other airlines between the nearby Puerto Jimenez airport (10km away via a good road) and San Jose's Juan Santamaría International Airport, among others. These quick (45 minutes) and reasonably priced flights ensure a seamless journey. For a smoother experience, we recommend booking a morning flight. The Puerto Jimenez airport offers a few car rental agencies. Advance car rental booking is strongly recommended. Alternatively, taxis can be arranged for your convenience. BY LAND: If you prefer a scenic journey, the main international airport in San Jose (Juan Santamaría) is approximately a five-hour drive away. Many Car rental agencies are available in San Jose.
