Mountain cabin next to Rondane National Park
Description
Simple and charming mountain cabin located at the tree line, 1000 meters above sea level. It is only one kilometer from the national park, and it is five kilometers to walk to the Peer Gynt cabin. The cabin has neither running water nor electricity, but it has solar power, which is generally sufficient for charging phones and using lamps. Water is fetched from the stream behind the cabin. There is an outdoor toilet in the outbuilding next to the cabin. The cabin is heated with firewood. The space The cabin has three bedrooms, three beds, and six sleeping spots. One room has a single bed, one room has a double bed, and one room has a bunk bed with space for two people downstairs and one person upstairs. There is not a TV. Bedding/Cleaning Bring your own bedding and towel unless otherwise agreed. It is the guest's responsibility to clean and tidy up the cabin before departure. Water There is no running water in the cabin. Water can be obtained from the hose attached to the outhouse as long as there are no frosty nights. This water comes from the stream west of the cabin. Stream water comes straight from the ground. Bring your own drinking water. In winter, you must transport water yourself and/or melt snow. Kitchen The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen with most utensils. Gas stove with four burners and an oven where you can cook ribs for Christmas. Instant coffee, spices etc. are available. A "pour-over coffee maker" is available if you want to brew coffee. The gas tank is in the cabinet to the left of the stove. There is an extra tank in the outhouse. Bathroom The bathroom has a washbasin, cleaning supplies, and washing equipment. Antifreeze is in the cabinet. There is an outdoor toilet in the outhouse outside the cabin. Solar Power The cabin has a solar power system. There is usually enough power to charge phones and use lights where necessary. Coffee makers, etc. cannot be used. Note: we cannot guarantee that there will always be power available at the cabin. Guest access The entire cabin is accessible to guests Other things to note Call the cabin warm: Cabin owners can call the cabin (partially) warm if tenants are arriving in the fall/winter. Please give notice 24 hours in advance if desired. Price: 100 NOK Solar power/electricity: There is a small solar power system in the cabin that can be used for charging phones, etc. The system may occasionally run out of power while tenants are at the cabin. Note: We cannot guarantee that there will always be power available at the cabin. The system will be overloaded if hairdryers, coffee makers, kettles, etc. are used. They must never be used. Heating: Firewood is included in the price. Bridges in the national park: Be aware that there are several summer bridges in Rondane, and they are removed when it is not peak season. Check websites for relevant information. The bridge to the Peer Gynt cabin is put out first in peak season. Snowmobile transport: You can order snowmobile transport if the conditions are okay. Price 800 NOK. Guests must contact the snowmobile company themselves. Ask the host for contact information. Water: There is no running water in the cabin.
