Description
Take a break and unwind at this peaceful oasis, nestled among English-style gardens. A quiet country escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Tinker Gardens is a cozy private cottage full of character (including murals by a local artist). Adjacent to the Nehantic State Forest in the stunning countryside of Lyme, there are numerous trails to hike or bike and a lake to swim or kayak. There is easy access to beaches and some of the best restaurants in Southeastern Connecticut. The space Guests enter through the main door into the kitchen/sitting area. To the left are the stairs up to the second floor and a pantry. Through the sitting area bookcase is the library; to its left is the full bath (shower only) and on the right through the sliding glass door is the dining area/sun room. The bedrooms are located at the top of the stairs: on the right is the main bedroom with a king-size bed and half bath. Through the door and to the left is the single bedroom, with the game/puzzle room to the right. There is AC in the main bedroom, but not in the single. There are floor fans in both rooms. Outside, there is seating near the frog pond as well as tables and chairs underneath the pergola and by the main entrance. The back yard has mowed areas as well as a field with a path around it. Our private vegetable garden is out back as well. There are various types of heating and cooling systems in the house. Please read the instructions on their usage located on the sideboard behind the couch in the kitchen/sitting area. Guest access Guests have use of the entire cottage, except for the two garage bays. Also, the garden tool shed is off limits to guests. Guests are also free to roam all the gardens on the property. Other things to note Because this is a country home in a rural setting, guests have reported a missed cobweb or traces of mice, but this is extremely seldom since we now have a monthly contract with a pest control service. Guests who are sensitive to different smells should be advised that we use air fresheners or essential oil diffusers when the house is closed up. If the hot water in the taps hasn’t been run in awhile, there may also be a slight sulphur odor that clears up in a few minutes. The water is from a drilled well and is safe for drinking and bathing.
