At The Dusty Spur, feel free to make yourselves at home while enjoying the comfort and charm of our lovely cabin! Other things to note Important Facts & Quirks about the Home The grounds are not fully fenced so your dogs / kids will not be contained. Supervise accordingly. If the Monitor brand heater (next to the front door) is running, you’ll want to keep the front door closed as the exhaust pipe fumes tend to come into the house. Master Bath’s pocket door should not be closed all the way in as it may get stuck. There is no kitchen sink garbage disposal (wall switch by sink is for overhead light) Upstairs Jacuzzi tub when filled will completely deplete hot water heater so plan others’ showers accordingly. Also, the switch for jets may need breaker / GFI switch reset (panel in pantry/laundry room) During summer the upstairs can get warm. Open windows at night and keep ceiling fans running General Guest Guidelines Flushing / Drains: The usual “Don’t flush anything but TP” warning is especially important here! We are on a septic system. Do not put anything down commodes or foods down sinks! Includes no ‘flushable wipes! Fires indoors & out: PLEASE DO NOT burn fire-starters or kindling continuously BUT only to start fires followed by adding long burning logs (preferably pine logs to begin & oak to sustain the fire). For campfire ring keep fire low. Bring hose from near back porch stairs over to fire ring. It has an on/off nozzle for catching any embers/danger. Remember to turn off at the hose bib when you’re done. No 4-wheeling on or near the property. Max speed of 20 MPH (neighbors request 10 MPH on all dirt roads) The Great Outdoors (getting away from city life comes with precautions)! Please encourage and remind all members of your group to keep screens and doors closed to ensure fewer insects and safeguard from smaller critters. We do have occasional bears in the area, and they are interested in your food! Avoid keeping any food in your vehicles and keep food out of tents if you’re camping Remember to gather and bring inside all BBQ tools used, leftovers, S’mores fixins, etc. Power Outages are more frequent in our rural area both due to treefalls in storms and PG&E brown outs. In the back of this binder we’ve provided instructions for initiating the generator (which is NOT an automatic stand-by). Between property managers, kind neighbors and/or the owners we’ll do our best to assist if needed. The “duck phone” operates during an outage via old fashioned phone jack (found behind dining table) No EV Charging: Our vacation rental fees nor apparatus allow for charging your Electric Vehicles. Snacks in garage are for future guests’ gift baskets, steer kids away. S’more fixins in kitchen are for all to share
