The space About Tofte Trails Tofte Trails is a design-forward nature retreat created by husband-and-wife team Kelsey and Christopher, founders of Cuyuna Cove in Crosby, MN. Their passion for outdoor adventure, intentional architecture, and one-of-a-kind guest experiences lives in every handcrafted detail. Each of our five custom cabins sits on 17 private acres of forested land above Lake Superior, offering a peaceful and elevated place to rest, reconnect, and explore the North Shore. This ensures a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere for couples, solo travelers, and small friend groups. Due to the layout of our land and safety considerations, we are not able to accommodate children. Pet Policy We love dogs and welcome them at Kadunce Cabin with prior approval. • Only 1 well-behaved dog over 1 year old is allowed • Your dog must be added to your Airbnb reservation before booking • A pet fee will be applied • Dogs must be crated when left alone • No dogs on beds or furniture unless a pet blanket it on the bed (we do place one on the bed for pet reservations). Expect: • A king bed with luxury linens and forest views • Modern design using reclaimed 140-year-old MN wood • Heated floors, a fireplace, and oversized windows • White oak cabinetry hand-built by Kelsey’s father • Fully equipped kitchenette with French press and organic beans • Spa-like walk-in shower wrapped in zellige tile • Private patio with grill, lounge seating, and soft robes provided • Your own outdoor (heated) gear storage room with secure access • WiFi and peaceful seclusion Parking Info To preserve the peaceful atmosphere and reduce land impact, we use a central parking area. Kadunce Cabin is about a 200 ft walk from the lot, with a slight slope. We provide wagons for luggage. Please use caution in winter, as conditions can be icy. Important Notes • Minimum 2–3 night stay required • We are a small, off-grid-inspired team and do not offer on-site staff 24/7, but are always reachable via Airbnb • Please read our full booking and cancellation policy before reserving • Be kind to our team and to fellow guests—Tofte Trails is built on respect and care Guest access You’ll have access to: • One designated parking space in our shared parking area • Your own private outdoor gear storage locker for bikes, skis, and more (secured with your unique access code) • A private patio with fire pit and seating • Shared community fire pit and picnic tables with views of Lake Superior • Full access to our private 17-acre forested property above the lake, including our lit trail to the overlook for sunrise, stargazing, or Northern Lights spotting Other things to note Adults Only Tofte Trails is a peaceful retreat designed for adults only. All guests must be 21 or older. 2 adults MAX per reservation. Wildlife, Bugs & Food Storage We’re tucked into 17 private acres of North Shore forest — and we share this land with wildlife, including bears, squirrels, and bugs. Expect to see critters, especially in warmer months. Always store all food and trash inside your cabin. Do not leave anything on patios, in vehicles, or by the community fire pit to help keep wildlife away. Damage or Maintenance Issues Please report any damage or issues within one hour of arrival. If we’re not aware, we can’t make it right — and unreported damage may result in charges. We do not live on-site, but we’re available via Airbnb messaging and stay in close contact with our cleaning team. While we’ll always try to help quickly, remote areas can come with occasional delays for repairs or service. Winter Travel & 4WD Vehicles If you're visiting in winter, a 4WD vehicle is highly recommended. We do plow, but storms can come fast and local plow availability is limited. Snow, ice, and slower response times are a reality up here — thank you for arriving prepared and patient. Footwear Tip For extra traction on snowy or icy days, we recommend bringing Yaktrax or similar cleats for your boots. These can be ordered online or found at outdoor gear shops and will help keep you safe both on the property and while hiking nearby trails. Parking & Site Access To keep the land around our cabins serene and natural, all guests park in our community lot. Each reservation includes one parking space. Trailers are not permitted and will need to be removed. Cabins are a short walk from the lot, and we provide wagons to help with luggage. Slippery Conditions in Winter We salt and sand our paths regularly, but freeze-thaw cycles can quickly change conditions. Please use caution when walking the property in colder months. Cancellations As a small, family-run business, we strictly follow our cancellation policy and do not offer refunds for weather, illness (including COVID), or emergencies. If you're concerned about the unexpected, we recommend purchasing travel insurance for peace of mind.
