Renovated Bar Harbor Cottage just blocks from town
Acadia and Bar Harbor await you as does this sparkling clean, renovated cottage on one of Bar Harbor's favorite streets. Your vacation home on Ledgelawn Avenue is just blocks from town. Walk to restaurants, shops, and the ocean. Whether you're here to stroll the island or hike/bike/run, Cedar Cottage has all you need. Relax with your coffee in the sunroom, sitting area, or on the deck; make great meals in the well-stocked kitchen; sleep soundly on Puffy and Casper beds! Renovating this home was a labor of love for me. My goal was to create a space that would make people feel relaxed the minute they walked in. My friends, family and guests say I nailed it, and that makes me smile. The furnishings are a mix of early American and contemporary - I love history and clean lines without a lot of clutter. Like the furnishings, the colors are a combo - calming hues that remind you of Acadia's terrain (ocean blues and greens; grays - like the amazing rocks and boulders) with pops of bold colors in pillows, rugs and paintings/photos. Since the kitchen is often the gathering place for families big and small, I focused on making it a great cooking space as well as a comfortable spot to hang out and talk. The gas stove and all the utensils and gadgets you need make this a fun kitchen for cooks. And those that like to sit and chat as the chef does her/his thing can do so on a stool at the counter or in the comfy arm chairs in the sitting room attached to the kitchen. Bed linens and towels are a mix of LLBean and other quality brands. My visitors (guests, family, friends) love the beds and the stone floor of the shower that gives you a little foot massage as you rinse off. The house is on a wide street just a short walk from the Village Green where people relax in the sunshine by day and gather with their ice cream by night. Just two blocks in the opposite direction - a fabulous playground and the local YMCA whose parking lot becomes a farmers' market on Sunday mornings. The house has plenty of yard space - guests have told me it's great for their kids when it comes to kicking a soccer ball around or just playing in general. The neighbors surrounding my home are locals who I consider part of my Bar Harbor family. You can hop on Acadia's Island Explorer at the Village Green (short walk from the house) - it's free and takes you all over the Island.
