Mountain Hideaway is a cozy & relaxing cabin located on a quiet, private road in a beautiful neighborhood of Wrightwood. Situated beneath pine & oak trees on a huge ~1/3 acre lot! Steps from a popular hiking trail. Downtown is just 1 mile away from the cottage, with great restaurants, a coffee shop, brewery, wine bar, & lots of fun local stores. Only 3.5 miles to Mt. High! Open floor plan, 2 bd/1 ba, sleeps 4 guests. Rustic charm w/all the modern amenities. A perfect couples or family getaway! **BOGO 50% off weeknight stays now through May!! Available for Sunday through Wednesday check-ins. Buy one or more nights, get one additional night of equal or lesser value FREE! Maximum value $200; not available on holidays or weekends. Send us a message with your dates to ask about our BOGO special!** Welcome to our Mountain Hideaway! Our cottage is located in a private neighborhood just steps from the Acorn Trail, a 2.1-mile one-way trail through Acorn Canyon which connects to the PCT and features incredible views of Wrightwood and the Swarthout Valley. Downtown Wrightwood is only 1 mile from the cabin - this small town features plenty of charm, including local restaurants, a coffee shop, brewery, wine bar, and lots of fun stores. Mountain High Ski Resort is 3.5 miles away; during the winter months, spend the day out on the slopes or at Yeti Snow Park, and then come home to your cozy cabin where you can relax in front of the fireplace. In the summer, Mountain High offers disc (frisbee) golf, archery lessons, hiking, and is working to add mountain bike trails! The 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage has an open floor plan and can accommodate 4 guests comfortably. In addition to our amazing location, the cabin features modern amenities including Wi-Fi and Smart TVs in every room. As Montana natives, we've added artwork throughout the cabin that highlights different parts of the Big Sky state that we love so much! *Absolutely NO SMOKING is permitted inside the cabin or within 20 feet of our mountain cottage, including vapes or e-cigarettes. Please, no burning incense as well. *Out of respect for our wonderful neighbors, absolutely no loud parties will be permitted. *Filming for commercial purposes is not permitted at the property. *Outdoor wood-burning fires are illegal without a permit. The cabin features exterior security cameras as well as a noise detection system to ensure that guests adhere to these policies. NOTES: *We are at the top of a steep, windy road that can be rough, as well as snow-covered and icy during winter months or winter storms. You MUST have AWD/4x4 & chains when there is snow!! Charging is not available for electric vehicles. *Mountain Hideaway is not the best fit for guests with limited mobility due to the relatively steep driveway and rustic wood & stone steps leading down to the front door. We do our best to keep the driveway and steps snow- and ice-free during the winter months, but it can still be slippery!! *We are not able to accommodate refund requests due to extreme weather conditions. Be aware that inclement weather conditions may result in an interruption of WiFi/electricity. *There is a detached garage/apartment on the property that is occupied by a full-time tenant, who helps to keep an eye on the place and may be available to assist guests with questions or concerns. *This is a cabin in the woods… guests may encounter bugs & wildlife. We have observed squirrels, raccoons, spiders, deer, fox, bobcats, snakes, and bears in our backyard. Neighbors have reported mountain lions as well. Please keep an eye out! *On that not, we are on a sensitive septic system. Only toilet paper should be flushed down the toilet. Even "flushable wipes" are NOT ok and will cause the system to backup. *We cannot guarantee the use of unscented laundry detergent on sheets & towels (we happen to like the smell of detergent :). Please check with us well in advance if you have sensitivities. *There is a camp located on the private property behind us; you may hear kids playing during summer months. *Like most homes in the area, the cabin does not have air conditioning. During times of excessive heat, the cabin may warm up inside, but it will cool down during the night when temperatures drop. Portable fans are provided in each bedroom. Guest access: Self check-in & out. The front door code will be provided to guests prior to arrival time. Mountain Hideaway is located near the end of Acorn Drive, a private road for residents only. Enter into the main level’s great room and admire the soaring wood beam ceilings and luxe down-filled leather sofa that sits in front of the convenient gas fireplace (please do NOT burn real wood!!). A 55” Smart TV sits above the rustic mantle for all your entertainment needs, and a large coffee table holds your books or beverages. Or, cozy up in the accent chair next to the window with a blanket and a book. A portable indoor/outdoor Bluetooth speaker is provided for your enjoyment. The living room window features an amazing view of the mountainside to the west of us! Just past the living area you’ll find a dining table with seating for four. We love to cook, so the adjacent quaint kitchen, complete with original oak cabinetry, features plenty of cookware, dishes and utensils. Enjoy the forest views out the kitchen window (we have no neighbors behind us, only private land) and oversized sliding glass door that leads out to the deck. A 12-cup coffee maker (permanent filter included, no need to worry about that!), stove, toaster, and microwave have been provided for you as well. Around the corner and in the hallway you’ll find the downstairs bedroom, bathroom, and a full-sized washer and dryer available for your use. We have noticed that the bathroom counter sits a bit on the low side. Guests will be provided with a few rolls of toilet paper; toiletries such as hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion; plenty of towels & washcloths; and of course, a hair dryer. The cabin currently has a 40-gallon hot water tank; keep in mind that the average 10-minute shower uses approximately 25 gallons, and plan accordingly. The downstairs bedroom features a queen-size sleigh bed with memory foam mattress topper and warm & cozy bedding. Between the dresser and full-sized closet you’ll find lots of storage space for your clothes. Quaint bedside lamps include USB charging ports, and if you’re feeling like watching a movie in bed, a 32” smart TV awaits! Or, enjoy the peaceful view out the bedroom window. We’ve stored a variety of games and puzzles in the bedroom closet as well - you’ll see them hanging on the right-hand side. Although we’ve added railings & treads for safety, as well as motion sensor lights for nighttime, please use caution when going up and down the stairs. In the upstairs bedroom you'll find a vaulted ceiling, queen-sized bed with comfy mattress topper and plenty of cozy bedding, and a great view out the large window of the pine trees that surround our property. If you’d like, open it up to take in the fresh mountain air! A dresser (complete with 32" Smart TV) and closet are available for clothes storage, and bedside tables are provided for your convenience. We’ve added a reading nook in the corner complete with our own little library, where you can feel free to ‘take a book - leave a book’. Outside, enjoy our nearly ½ acre lot filled with towering oak & pine trees and the occasional wildlife visitor. Off of the kitchen & through the sliding glass door is our large, wraparound deck, which is a great place to kick back and relax with a beverage after a long day hiking, skiing, or exploring the town. The deck is set up with an outdoor table & chairs, a Blackstone griddle, and string lights to make it extra cozy during the evenings. Enjoy the quiet of Acorn Canyon from the deck or the bistro table down below while the squirrels play in the trees. Relax in the 2-person hammock. During the winter months, are you or your kids craving snow play? Look no further than our backyard, which is on a gentle slope and will provide hours of entertainment! Guests have access to the entire cabin and ~1/2 acre lot. A detached garage/apartment building is also on the property, occupied by a full-time tenant, who may be available to assist guests as needed. Wrightwood is a small community in the San Gabriel Mountains (population approx. 5,000) sitting at 6,000' elevation. It is known for being a waypoint on the PCT Trail, and is the home of Mountain High Ski Resort. With its close proximity to Los Angeles (80 miles), San Diego (140 miles), Palm Springs (90 miles), and Las Vegas (3 1/2 hours), Wrightwood is conveniently located off of the 15 freeway and is an ideal getaway for those wanting to escape to the mountains. The drive up the mountain is neither twisty or steep, making it an especially pleasant one. Our Mountain Hideaway cabin is located at the end of a private road for residents and guests only. Our cabin operates on a septic system; please refrain from flushing anything other than toilet paper. Even "flushable wipes" are NOT ok to flush and can cause the pipes to back up. Thank you!
