Description

Sapillo Creek Escape is a one of a kind gem in the Gila Wilderness. It is a custom designed home made by the creator of Bear Creek Motel and Lodge in Piños Altos, John Claussen. Everything from the saltillo tiles to the wood latilla ceilings were exquisitely hand-laid. Over 3,000 square feet in the home at your disposal, this place is made for just you or you and your family and friends to enjoy the Gila Wilderness. Fishing, birding, biking, hiking, horseback riding - adventure awaits! The space SAPILLO CREEK ESCAPE is entirely private with four bedrooms and three full baths! Sleeps 7 easy in one king bed, one queen bed, one full and one single. If you bring your own air mattress and our couch can get the accommodations up to 9 or 10! This is one of a kind space hosting four full bedrooms, three with adjoining decks that show off majestic views of the Mogollon Mountains at 6,600 feet elevation. There are three full bathrooms and 4 kiva fireplaces! Pets are allowed so long as they are socialized, housebroken, and have their recent vaccinations. Please let us know if you are planning on bringing them. We also have space for horses - we have a pasture in the front of our property before the inclined driveway to the house. We recently had three girls and five horses out riding and it was perfect! So if you would like to bring out a couple of horses, and put them in our pasture you're welcome to in order to explore the Gila on horseback! We do not have any shelter for them, just the pasture and some potable water through a water pump, but if you bring the rest, we would love to have you guys up with your horses. The entire house was built by hand and it took nearly 7 years to complete. Everything is custom and I can promise you that you will never stay in a place like this! A great location to retreat to and escape from the everyday! We want you to share Sapillo Creek Escape with your family, friends, biking crew, birding group, hiking tribe, fishing buds, and your hunting pals! On the property itself, we recently marked off three areas which are perfect for campsites. If the weather is nice and you want to bring a tent, you are more than welcome to spend some nights under the stars at the campsites on property. Let us know if you are interested and we can show you how to get to them. Guest access Guests can access the whole property! Other things to note We will have internet access but there are no TVs in the home. We want you to disconnect while you are here and enjoy the environment around you! We do have an AC unit but it doesn't work well because the house is built to stay cool during the days, so we rarely turn it on. We have fans and evaporative coolers in each room to help address any climate/heat issues. The tiles and the walls absorb and bring in the cool from the nights and maintain a comfortable temperature inside during the days. Finally, I hate to even write this but this has been a problem over the years and continues to be one. We love our canine companions and understand the love and desire to travel with them and also how they often provide safety from wildlife while hiking out in the Gila. HOWEVER, many guests still allow their dogs to mark inside the house on the carpet and on the legs of our couches. As all pet owners know - this then creates a vicious cycle with all other pets that come after. It is also not easy to spot the urine stains immediately and oftentimes the accumulation is what makes the stains and smells evident. Further, for those who are allergic to animals it isn't fair for their stays if you allow your pets on the furniture and their hair and dander gets stuck in. So, we are getting new couches - less aesthetically marvelous but more utilitarian and able to weather the guests and the animals and we just recently commercially washed the carpets. (message written on October 13, 2024) and we will need all guests to put their pets in the crate when they are not home and can not supervise their pets. And, they need to keep their pets off of the furniture. And, if their pets soil the house and the furniture - we will need the owners to compensate for commercial cleaning and potentially replacement of the furniture. We are finding it hard for people to self-report, care for their pets in the ways we are asking them to in our home and therefore need to add this house rule. Thank you, in advance, for understanding and keeping this home a pet-friendly home!
