Other things to note "Tuskendiken: the poor neighborhood with golden soil." Tuskendiken, now a paved road, was originally a dirt road, a "hollow road" worn out in the landscape. Part of the landscape was excavated in the past, the yellow sand present in the ground was worth gold. These sand excavations are still visible in the difference in height of the landscape. At Tuskendiken, you will find, among other things, the wâldhúskes characteristic of the Frisian Wouden and the famous sandstone housing law houses. From the house, you have a view of the place where the notorious Barracks used to stand, here lived the "dregs" of Burgum. This piece of history is no longer visible today, you are now looking at a meadow, surrounded by trees, where with a little luck sheep are grazing. The area can be characterized as a coulisse landscape, with beautiful old wooden walls. The accommodation is located almost directly on the forest and in the meadows around pastures, in addition to sheep, also horses.
