Description

Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space.Guests have their own cozy, clean and quiet space with a large queen size bedroom, separate lounge, and private bathroom. Everything you need for a great stay. Guests will have their own private entrance / patio and seating area which provides a view over the garden and Orchard and with easy access to Kowhai Park. Our home was built in the 1920’s and the character has been well maintained throughout the house. The space The in-house suite has several steps up to the patio and private entrance (easier access can be arranged through the main house, if required). Guests can have as much privacy as they like during their stay as we reside in a separate part of the house. Guests may get a warm greeting from our dog, Woodsy, but do let us know in advance if you would prefer this did not happen and we can be mindful of her whereabouts. While there is not a full kitchen within the suite, guests do have access to their own kettle, toaster, and mini fridge. We have a heat pump hot water system. There are two space heaters for keeping things cozy in the winter. The home does not have a TV. We can arrange for a ‘movie night’ in the lounge with our projector upon request. A barbecue may be available upon request. The private bathroom has a shower over a claw-foot bath which does require stepping into the bath (in case of mobility issues). Guests are invited to relax and wander in our organic permaculture garden and orchard. We are visited by Tui, Piwakawaka (Fantail), Tauhou (Silvereye), Kereru ( native wood pigeon), and often have Manu-kai-hua-rakau (Song Thrush) nesting around the house. In the evenings you can often hear the ruru (morepok owl) nearby. EXTRA GUESTS? While this space is best suited for 1-2 people, we would be happy to discuss additional guests in advance of your arrival. With additional guests, we may charge an additional fee to cover cleaning and set up. Our unit is not set up for infants or children. PETS?! While we’re not listing that all pets are welcome, we are happy to consider your fur friends. We do prefer that they do not go on the furniture or in the bed (additional cleaning fee would apply) and that they’re well behaved. WORKING? let us know before you arrive so we can be sure to set up a workstation in the lounge. We have a desk and office chair available for your remote working needs. Our property is located opposite Kowhai Park and the room, lounge and patio overlook our gardens, fruit trees and the Kowhai Park Arboretum. The Whanganui River is a 2-minute walk away. Please note that as the room faces Anzac Parade you can hear some traffic noise from the room. Free tea and coffee and unlimited broadband. Guest access On-street parking is available for guests. If a slow EV charge is required let us know. Our house is accessed down a quiet walkway from the street. There are steps up to the main entrance of the house however if assistance with access or luggage is needed, we can help with access through the main house. During your stay We are available if needed and we're happy to give you any space you'd like during your stay. Guests are also most welcome to have a chat with us :) Guests will receive a unique door code to help with seamless check in Other things to note We do have a dog and will consider your bringing along a good-natured pet (but would need to discuss case by case). Depending on the time of year there may be access to fresh veg and fruit from our orchard. We do our best to live a low/zero waste lifestyle, we reuse and recycle everything we can and compost any food waste. We do not have rubbish removal, so we ask you to be mindful of your rubbish during your stay. For this reason, we do not pre-stock the mini fridge with items such as milk. For cleaning, natural cleaners and detergents are used where possible, scented items in our home are from natural oils. We will be using disinfect cleaners where necessary to ensure that we keep you well for your journey! We have a number of board games and would be happy to leave a few in your space for you to use during your stay! Let’s chat if you’re hoping to bring your littles. Our home is not set up to accomodate infants and children (it would be the guests full responsibility to ensure their child’s safety (we have many stairs and a large bathtub), accomodation (we do not have children’s bed&bedding) , & specific needs (please note what is included in the kitchenette!).
