Campsite info Nestled between the woodlands of the private 17th century Carreglwyd Estate, Seren-y-Mor (meaning 'Star of the Sea') is a family-run campsite on the North-West coast of Ynys Môn, the Isle of Anglesey. Perfectly located for family beach holidays and as a basecamp for walking and adventure getaways. The campsite spans two large fields of quite different character, one with expansive sea views and sea breezes atop the hill, and the other, less windy, field down between the trees closer to the campsite amenities and the fire circle. We welcome tents, caravans and campervans onto the site, where we have hot and cold showers, several compost toilets, a large communal fire and BBQ area, and a washing up station. We welcome you to bring your own raised fire bowls and BBQs for your pitch. Dogs are welcome and we kindly ask owners to be actively responsible for their pet for the wellbeing and enjoyment of others. If you are after a hassle free stay and want to travel light, we also host four furnished glamping bell tents and a vintage VW camper van, so all that you need to bring is yourselves and your book. For those more inclined to four walls and a roof, there are four holiday cottages available to let inside the estate via Boltholes and Hideaways. Seren y Môr is under a mile from several beautifully rugged beaches for family fun days and also close to the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path for coastal stomps. It is 15 minutes from Grugmor and Penrhyn Beaches, which is also the nearest point of the coast path, and around 25 minutes to Church Bay where there is a cafe, a restaurant, and just a little bit further, a pub with spectacular views. The Church Bay Inn is a perfect halfway pint with a view for a neat 3 mile circular walk (or is 10 mins by car). In the woods, we have a forest school play area. There are nearby activities like sea kayaking and coasteering. With massage and wellbeing onsite in peak season with Dandelion Wellness. If alfresco cooking isn’t how you want to spend your holiday, then there is The Lobster Pot Restaurant, or pizza nights when a woodfired pizza van comes on site to dish out some seriously tasty pizza. Our hot showers and compost toilets are constructed using simple and upcycled materials, and what would be waste from a normal toilet is turned into a resource for returning nutrients to an area of woodland that we have set aside for coppicing, meaning that what you leave behind is turned into trees and woodland soils. Our water on site comes from our borehole, and goes through UV filtration before being pumped to the taps and showers. It is fresh tasting and has been filtered by the rock beneath your feet. We ask that you consider what you bring with you to our rustic site, as we are regularly shocked with the amount of single use camping gear these days. We strongly advise that the “Buy Nice or Buy Twice” motto be employed when buying camping gear, and that it never be thought of as temporary or single use. Cheaper camping gear certainly democratises the camping experience, but that should not come at the expense of our ecological stability, which surely is what camping is about enjoying. With that said, there will be a recycling point on site, with separate bins to ensure that none of the waste produced on site goes to landfill. Seren y Môr is a wonderfully situated, basic site, with simple but ingenious and functional amenities; it’s wild camping with a touch of comfort: slippers and a pipe optional. Other things to note If you would like to book more than one tent, or the VW camper, please get in touch as I maybe able to offer a discount for you. To give space and privacy there is at least 10m between each glamping unit. Decor may vary slightly depending on bed set up, but always beautiful.
