Red Bank Cottage

Red Bank Cottage is nestled amid peaceful rolling farmland 10 minutes drive from Kendal and 20 minutes from Lake Windermere and is the ideal place for couples, friends or small families to unwind and relax. Our traditional Lake District stone barn has been converted to a high standard. It is powered by solar panels, with a modern, warm, bright and spacious living area with a south facing patio opening onto the garden, and rolling fields beyond. We’re sure you’ll love it just as much as we do! The space The open plan kitchen, dining and living area is equipped with a double oven, fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher, as well as all the essentials for cooking. Exposed beams, original artworks and handmade crockery as well as underfloor heating powered by an air source heat pump and solar panels. The dining table comfortably seats four people alongside a sofa, while the lounge area is complete with two more sofas and a smart TV. The patio catches the sun throughout the day and is the perfect place for outdoor dining or simply relaxing and watching the sheep, rabbits, and rich bird life. There is a large fire pit to keep you warm while you sit out and enjoy the starlight in the evening. The master bedroom has a king size bed and plenty of storage, while the second bedroom has a double bed and patio door with access directly into the garden. Main bathroom with double-ended bath and wet room style shower is downstairs with an additional toilet and sink on the first floor adjacent to the bedrooms. With hyper fast broadband it is also the perfect hideaway for working remotely. Our family live onsite, producing ceramics and paintings from our neighbouring studios and maintaining the surrounding gardens, meadows, woodland and pond as a habitat for wildlife. Guest access Guests will have sole use of the cottage and its garden. Other things to note Red Bank offers easy access to both the south and north of the Lake District National Park, as well as the Eden Valley and the Yorkshire Dales. You can also enjoy a wide range of activities on the doorstep, including walking, climbing, wild swimming, cycling, mountain biking and ghyll scrambling. Feel free to ask for advice on walks from the doorstep and peaceful places to go for a refreshing dip! There is ample parking for two cars and well-behaved dogs are welcome for an additional charge of £25. Please keep dogs on the lead and dispose of poo bags in the black wheelie bin at the top of the drive. Please be aware that there is a little used public footpath which runs past the cottage (handy for walks straight from the door!). Let us know if you require storage for bikes (or any other outdoor kit) in advance. We can also provide charging for electric bikes if necessary. Some firewood for the firepit/BBQ grill is provided and more is available to purchase if you need it. Check in is at 4pm with departure at 10am on your final day. You will be sent directions and advice on checking in before you arrive. If you have an extra person or need another bed making up, we have a single mattress that goes on the floor for £15 per night, just select ‘extra guest’ when booking.
